Is this the reason there child die later? Exposed to radiation?
A simple thing like communication, and the Americans have to assume they have come to take over !! These or any other aliens could do so while we bloody well slept and we would not know it. WHY do you always have to assume any other species has automatically come to conquer, instead of trying to make friends.
Loved the film. But now Im concerned our military is too dense to realize Tall Whites are demons; and, this film is about conditioning the people to accept help from fallen angels. JMJ pray for us. Amen.
What'll really blow your mind is that Abbott & Costello (the two aliens) already knew who Louise and Ian were, and most likely already understood Louise the entire time… but they still had to sit through all of this in order to ensure that events occurred the way they were supposed to. And, yes, that even means Abbott sacrificing itself to the bomb. Knowing the future isn't nearly as cool as people think it would be.

We experience time as a point, like the playhead in a YouTube video that determines which part of the video you’re watching. Our consciousness only experiences the present, though we can remember the past. In this view, the past is stored knowledge and information, the present is where we actively experience reality, and the future is unknown.
In Arrival, however, if you rewire your brain the way the Heptapods do, you can experience the future like you experience the past. Just as we remember past events, you can “remember” future ones. Any information you will have in the future can be accessed in the present. This is how Louise learns to read Heptapod completely. In the future, she studies it, even teaches it to students at the university. She “remembers” how to read and speak Heptapod from a memory of the past, but from a memory of the future.
And what this does is anyone who has this ability is able to have more control on their lives. Similar to how it allowed Louise to stop the Chinese military from attacking by "remembering" events in the future. However, though this does provide more control over your choices and actions, you still cannot fully control circumstance. Similar to Abbot(one of the aliens) died saving Louise and Ethan, Louise despite having this ability cannot save her daughter. The ability gives more control but not absolute control.
This weapon, this ability will then help humanity develop faster technologically and societally and by 3000 years, we will have some sort of resource that the Heptapods need. A mutualistic biological relationship between two interstellar species.
