I was watching this live and could not BELIEVE that he was essentially doing “gay guy music video night” as the headliner of a music festival.

  2. he will always be an amazing singer but this cured my fomo. idk what’s worse only performing swag songs (which he didn’t really promote that well), the karaoke to his old songs or him playing random ass videos. i could feel the crowd losing hype

you can argue that he doesn’t need the overtop production but at the same time he’s gotten soooo lazy with everything

His little low-effort bop while the chorus plays itself is the same vibe as Justin Timberlake’s dad dancing on “the world tour” last year.

This man straight up did karaoke for 30 min and then sprinkled a little mtv ridiculousness when he started showing viral videos… absolutely terrible

The way people will spin this “he wasn’t taking himself too seriously” “it was authentic” “it was a metaphor for his life and career starting on YouTube”

Just crazy. He got paid around 8-10 MILLION for this shit. It was almost insulting (and I’m sitting on my couch, cannot imagine any of his fans that paid thousand to see him and he gave them that)

Beychella continues to be the standard. And pls know I wasn’t expecting JB to ever put on a show of that magnitude but this was absolutely bottom of the barrel. I was HOPING for better and it was just sad.

He sounded amazing but the setup was so sad and almost eerie. Just him eyeing the camera looking very jaded and exhausted with his teen videos in the background. It was more unsettling than nostalgic to me. Sad what the world does to truly talented people who don’t come from amazing support or means.

Creative direction-wise it almost felt like we all died and we’re watching 2010s life play back from some dark fish-eye lensed purgatory 😭.

  6. The word “sings” is being used very loosely here, ‘listens to and bops his head to it’ would’ve been more accurate

why did people think he was going to sing his old songs in full and bust out dance moves he’s clearly over that part of his career. In a way I understood him going on YouTube bc that’s how his career started

  8. I feel like I’m gonna be very much in the minority but I thought this was a brilliant performance. The original YouTube artist playing his own YouTube videos 20 years later? No one else could do this but him. I thought it was epic. The visuals were stunning imo. The shots of him singing w his younger self, the upshots, the shots of him with the fireworks at the end…all so cool. I thought it was refreshing to not have so many bells and whistles…just the music and his charisma. He has a great stage presence. And I’m not a fan just a regular pop person. I’ve never listened to SWAG but now I want to.

I don’t know if this is “iconic” or anything but this is just so boring to listen to, I’d be mad if I paid for this.

  10. Incredibly underwhelming performance. His whole set was so boring, weird and he made zero effort.

Man got his cheque and just simply showed up.

This healed something in my inner child, watching this whole entire performance. I was a die hard JB fan as a preteen and found him when his first album my world came out in ‘09, I was 10 years old.

I literally started crying mid-set bc this is all the little girl inside of me could’ve ever dreamed of. I know that sounds cheesy but I’m 27 now. It just brought so much things full circle and hearing him sing along and seeing his little self in the background. 😭

He sounds lazy….like he couldnt be bothered to actually sing. This sounds like someone doing karaoke anxiously. Why is this dude popular lol

After everything Sabrina did last night, this guy turns up with a PowerPoint presentation?

  14. lol the contrast of effort in comparison to Sabrina Carpenters set. No wonder women rule music now jfc.

  15. He gave an awful performance in order to make Sabrina’s performance look even better. Such a gentleman. 😍

  16. I know a lot didn’t like it but older him dueting with kid him on YT where he got his start made me sob lol.

I’m sorry but Justin is doing exactly what I do when I’ve had 2 beers on a Saturday night and put YouTube on

Maybe I show do Coachella 27 because when I do Baby at Karaoke I go at least 20 times harder than this.

  19. To me, he was doing a self-therapy session. He was singing Baby, for himself.

It was even more evident when he played the “it’s not clocking to you” clip.

The worst part of this is that the idea at its core was so good.

If he actually paid a team to turn this into a real show where he looked like he was picking YouTube videos that turned into a whole visual stage show worthy of the Coachella headline slot with a choreographed setlist it could have been a really awesome time warp through the ages of Bieber

Instead it was just him half miming over his own songs

    What a shame

Well, he can do this until he’s 80 years old. Imagine him singing Baby Baby when he’s 75 years old?

  22. CommissionNice72 on

I remember being like 6 years old and random old men hating on him for this **😂**

  23. Damn he gets so much hate. Maybe some of it deservedly but whatever I thought it was cool.

Harmonising with his childhood self, making peace with his past, bringing the fans into his healing, he’s a child of the internet (discovered on YouTube and grew up in the public eye), this was beautiful and low key art, people writing it off as lazy may have missed the point I’m just saying
