This is probably related to the backlash surrounding Justin’s Coachella performance

If Justin want to give the middle finger to a music industry that has fucked him over since childhood… power to him.   But does he have to charge fans 40 dollars a person to do it?

What made people think Bieber would be putting on a huge song and dance routine? He’s shown he could not care less and has little interest in performing, he’s a recovering(?) addict, his wife is a billionaire…

  3. I mean if I could make millions of dollars for playing YouTube videos I guess I’d do it, too

  4. I think this is an unpopular opinion, but as someone who didn’t go to Coachella, the only videos I’ve seen are the ones of him singing to his YouTube videos. It seems to me those are the ones that resonated the most with his fans (and others?)

Maybe he was on to something???

“I see what you’re doing” which is what? Supporting abusers and doing crappy performances? Groundbreaking.

All this energy criticizing useless celebrities but where’s this energy towards our government.. smh!

  7. Yall on reddit are mad at Justin’s performance but it’s a true echo chamber in here lmao. He’s going incredibly viral on tiktok and instragram with like hundreds of videos with millions of likes each and people are crying because they didn’t get to go etc. His “youtube” section with the old hits is going extremely viral and people find it actually amazing how he would play over his younger self. His music is also going viral on streaming charts rn….

Was his performance lackluster? Yeah… Is there a gender standard that male artists like Justin get to do less with the no backlash and female artists have to do 10x more effort for still less traction? Yeah… but it’s not Justin’s fault. His set at the youtube part was by FAR the loudest the crowd was at the entire show. Like you can go see the videos and the crowd are engaged as hell unlike any other artist.

And Justin has already performed incredibly when he was younger and with the amount of stuff he’s been through and the fact that he hasn’t performed in forever, this was good honestly…

  8. I really dislike Justin Bieber’s music, I also generally dislike the impression I get from his character through media.

However, the bits I’ve seen from his set on instagram are genius. Gave me vibes like Ye’s superbowl commercial.

  9. Saw comments on TikTok and it’s a cesspool. “We’re healing with Justin,” “Sabrina’s show wasn’t personal,”

    To be a man….

This feels like “When your project is due tomorrow but you haven’t started it yet”

While I did think JBs performance was kinda lazy I want to play devils advocate for a sec: didn’t Justin get discovered through YT? Is it possible his intent was a nod at that?

He can “be true to himself” in his own space with his own people. Not headlining a festival paying him $10 mil.

men will get on stage and just breathe and people will be like:

“omg, what a genius !?! What an interesting way of breathing. That was high art and so understated and raw. Keep doing you”

Meanwhile a female act will do a 2+ hour set with vocals, set design, costume changes, choreo and people will be like:

“What the heck is she wearing?” “It was too much production” “She can’t dance, I can’t believe people paid to see this” “That was garbage” and the next day there’d be editorials from Billboard, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, demanding they return all the Grammys they’ve won.

  14. I think we should stop being so harsh on female performers rather than harass male performers… that’s just my crazy proposal for the day. Plenty more to come

Cool, so I’m assuming everyone will be chill about female performers giving absolutely nothing and mumbling over YouTube videos and memes when headlining Coachella? Or is that just reserved for straight white men that the internet loves to coddle?

FYI Justin Briber and his mother have made many antisemitic comments before about Jewish people controlling all the banks.

Well thank goodness someone knows what he was doing. Mind telling the rest of us?

This isn’t for us. None of this is for us. We shouldn’t even be the audience. We must all stop feeding this celebrity nonsense.

Imagine your 1st language is english and can’t differentiate “you’re” and “your”. Yep USA is in an educational crisis

    He did a PowerPoint presentation.

When you look at what Sabrina Carpenter did, then Bieber with his over head projector.

  21. Celebrities love to drown out criticism with false claims of haters or people criticizing too loudly.

It’s valid that the performance could have been done better and it’s okay to get that feedback.

  22. fluffypuppycorn on

I’d love for Sabrina to come out and replicate exactly what he did with her own music and watch people’s reactions…

My husband said this was the best live performance hes ever seen.. I thought it was great. He did an acoustic set, he gave a nod to where he came from while making it feel intimate and he included the audience. It was very authentic to him I thought.

  24. BlueFlamingoMaWi on

He’s the only major popstar to get their big break on YouTube so this act really only makes sense for him. If anyone else did it then it wouldn’t work, and that’s what makes a good act.

  25. I have no idea who the person quoted is, and because I had just scrolled past a Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry post I thought this was about him 😂
