Euphoria season three review – grubby, desperate and absolutely not worth the wait | Television

  1. Now that we know how creepy and depraved Sam Levinson is, it surprises me a little how starkly different the Levinson of today is compared to Season 1 Sam Levinson. As someone who watches a bunch of interviews and press, there was a genuine ease, bond and empathy through which the cast interacted with Sam.

You could tell the cast and crew genuinely cared for each other, to the point where Sam once begin to break down talking about his own struggles with addiction and Zendaya visibly comforted him.

Now, most of the cast (Zendaya) included seems done with this shit, and there’s been revealed to be a bunch of reports of tension between the cast and Levinson. What changed? How was Sam able to (relatively) keep his impulses in check during S1?

I just started ep 1 so it’s obvs early for me to make a decision but the first scene with Zendaya in the car did make me laugh.

Along with Sam’s icky behaviour, the lack of Labrinth in the first episode was glaring. I feel if his music was still apart of it, it would have made a bit of a difference. He is one of the reasons it was so popular. I know Hans Zimmer is a legend(shout out Dune) but Labrinth was the vibe.

Sam is really a weirdo who fetishises dehumanisation of women and their struggles. Hate him.

  5. I’m watching it right now and it feels like a completely different show than the first two seasons, everything about it is so different and not in a good way. It feels like what an SNL parody of euphoria would be

“Absolutely not worth the wait” seems to be a running theme with shows these days.

  7. I haven’t watched any of this show, but I’m guessing from the vibes this series will be film stars phoning it in while Levinson takes full advantage of having them locked down with a series of humiliation rituals for not being more grateful. About right?

Watched episode 1 last night and it was a genuinely bad hour of television. What’s worse is that it was boring. If you’re gonna be bad—at least have the decency to be entertaining so we can hate watch. This was so boring that it didn’t even make a fun hate watch.

(POTENTIAL SPOILER) I thought the whole point behind why Nate supposedly matched well with Cassie was because he could control her and she liked being controlled? Really didn’t seem like the case in Ep 1…

  10. This show was never worth the wait. I don’t know what the actual fuck people enjoyed about it.
