In the dead of night, you quietly enter a family’s home. You’re not aggressive, yet the family desperately fights back as you try to take their 18-year-old daughter. (Tomer Capone during his IDF service)

Crazy that the guy who they give a huge arc about his guilt over past actions is the guy who feels no shame in the real life terror he helped inflict, terror he seems to feel pride in given his attitude after Oct, 7.

I hope karma comes back for him harder than homelander is coming for frenchie. piece of shit.

Burning for eternity in hell is too good for the IDF. Monsters, the lot of them

Jesus fucking Christ. The fact that so many Israeli’s feel confident enough to admit to crimes like this is utterly abhorrent- the world has failed Palestinians in so many ways. Thoughts with Lebanon too, considering they are Israel’s new plaything and the word continues to let them get away with destruction and genocide.

Oh that family didn’t allow you to forcibly take their daughter? How mean of them! Poor little genocidal IDF soldier can’t even catch a break when he’s kidnapping a teenager. ☹️

Wow this is so vile, and how casually he discusses it is astounding. I wonder if this is why I haven’t seen Tomer in much promotion with the rest of the cast. I don’t think I can look at his character the saw way again, knowing who he is as a person.

  7. woahoutrageous_ on

What a fucking monster. it’s becoming increasingly clear that you cannot seperate “regular israelis” from their government. They fundamentally view Palestinians whether in the West Bank or gaza as subhuman.

  8. ok so I am not saying this as a defense, but to really point out how chilling this statement is.

He’s not bragging, His own framing makes it clear he’s the bad guy. He’s not proud of this. He’s factual. His summary recognizes he was the aggressor, part of a larger aggressive movement. He knew it was wrong at the time. It wasn’t instigated by him but he was a part of it, so he did it.

This is how evil happens. This is not a story of him bragging and wanting to do this. This is the story about him maybe even being reluctant – but doing it anyway. I hope people realize my point and don’t just assume I’m posting this as a defense. I don’t know who this guy is. But he just essentially wrote an account of exactly how people follow orders into atrocities. Not because they want to and they love it. Because they… just follow along, even while seeing that the other people are just protecting their daughters from being delivered into what is possible a rape room.

Maybe there’s more context that shows this as a brag but this is so matter-of-fact and recognizing of them as the bad guys that it’s even more chilling.

  9. I think the title is misleading. He’s admitting it, but he’s also talking about how fucked up he realized it all was and how much his experience affected his wellbeing. What I hope is this is a case of someone realizing the dogmatic religious fundamentalism they were fed from the cradle isn’t something admirable:

“And they close the door in your face. It was at the end of the service, and suddenly something happened to me there. I went aside, took off my equipment and just fell apart, everything drained into this.”

The rest of the article goes on to explain the path of self-destruction his time in the army set him on. He did call Bibi a piece of shit on twitter some time ago apparently. Not that Im excusing the “shoot and cry” narrative, but there’s no question that boys are spooned military propaganda particularly against Evil Brown People very early on.

It is just not possible to be a human with basic empathy and do this shit, and think it’s okay or funny or whatever. It’s fucking insane psychopath shit

  11. It feels unbearable to know what is happening to Palestinians while the people committing the atrocities just don’t care. I know it’s a process and dehumanization is the first step but like holy shit it’s so bleak. All those people were whole universes with a favorite color and song and childhood dreams and memories.

  12. Why can’t they just be normal people? Who even thinks about doing these kinda things to others?

  13. overagardenwall on

second I found out he supported the idf I DNF “the boys”. s4 was about to premiere but I had lost any interest in it the moment I knew. gone like a plastic bag in the wind

  14. Buttercupprncess on

this is icky, imo he just basically admitted to trafficking at least one girl.

  15. rosesatthedawn on

Compare this to what happened to Melissa Barreira or Susan Sarandon

Or ANY Palestinian or even middle Eastern artist working in the west

Just disgusting. Fuck them for normalising this

the pseudointellectual fans who take so much pride in this show for its on the nose political satire will always ignore this for whatever reason.

not to forget anthony starr bullied maeve’s actress so bad she quit the show.

  17. Just like Hila Kleins raiding of Ramallah.

Illegal kidnapping and murders are commonplace for the IDF, seems like they all have a similar story.

Can’t wait for the stories of pilots bragging about dropping hundreds of bombs onto tents.

I recently met someone who believes in karmic retribution (i.e. your life is hard bc in a past life you were a bad person, people who suffer are deserving of it and it’s not a matter of geographic luck). Imagine my shock to discover this person is currently serving in the IDF. Maybe not shock, as that ideology is very on brand for zionists.

  19. He sounds haunted by what he did and experienced. Which I think is an appropriate reaction. Military service is not optional in Israel.

  20. celestialtrio on

You can never convince me that a two state solution is best or have some bs “nuance” take like I’ve seen ppl comment here on Reddit when this exists. The very foundation of Israel is rooted in violence and genocide, we gotta dismantle this settler state.

  21. Dependent-Mail-4903 on

Mentioning the girls’ age as if the terrors they would inflict on an 18-year-old are different than on a younger child is downright demented.

  22. He’s super rough with the 18 year old— grabbing and “tearing” at her, just to put her in a cell— *nothing else, I’m sooo sure*.

    Grotesque.

  23. AmbitiousReaction168 on

And the guy plays a French of Algerian descent. Probably the most insulting casting decision ever imho.

  24. I had a former manager who was an officer in the IDF before coming to America and he love to tell stories to ‘motivate’ about his time in the army. And you could always see the pride on his face when he did and also that it never crossed his mind everyone else was pretty horrified.

  25. two_hearts_wellness on

This sounds so rapey. Is he leaving something out, maybe? The part where he and his buddies took things even further?

What a scum. I do not know who this person is as an actor but as a woman, I feel a visceral sense of horror. Why are he and his buddies dragging 18 year old women away from their families? And are they really 18 or is he just being careful to say that so nobody accuses him and his pals of gang-SAing young teenaged girls?

Is this person going to be allowed to remain on the television show? If so, why?

Reading this made my skin crawl.
