Rep. Eric Swalwell has resigned from Congress following sexual assault accusations & calls for his expulsion: “Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties.”

  1. “I don’t want to expose myself to discovery so I’ll run away and hope they leave me alone”

  2. So the democrats lost a number, no justice will be done as he begins to run away from the spotlight, and the gop gets stronger.

Another banner fucking day in the US

This is exactly what someone guilty would say. People who are innocent fight this. Him resigning screams “I don’t want a hearing and I don’t want to be asked questions”. This is three separate staffers AND Kevin McCarthy was on the news saying EVERYONE in Congress knew to not have female staffers around Swalwell. I’m angry if the latter is true because it means people knew he did shit like this and said nothing for years.

He literally says he did stuff and he didn’t do stuff in the same breath. A bad way at writing it, but he is saying ‘you don’t know what I’m apologizing for and I won’t tell you, unless you know’.

  5. At the very least he did the proper thing and stepped down. It’d be nice if the other party could do the same when scandals pop up.

Tony Gonzalez still needs to go. If Swalwell had a shred of decency he would point this out

Just read on Twitter ( well, X) that a new accuser will be holding a presser in Beverly Hills tomorrow!

Republicans take note: this is the ethical thing to do. Not fight, not wait for an investigation or wait to be told to resign. And this is the case whether you are guilty or innocent. It’s called putting your constituents, your party and your country before your own desires and career.

This is so upsetting because the #1 person with the most allegations of abuse /misconduct you make it, is not even bothered by it.

i’d rather us expel and prove wrong and reinstate.
this goes across the board for politicians.

  11. It’s nice to see a resignation. However, I hate that a certain party is full of people with just as bad allegations and worse things and they refuse to step down.

Thanks Swalwell for having an iota of humiliation to step down.
