This is incredible. I think people often want to thank the healthcare workers in these scenarios, but it can feel so heavy to do so through the grief. Good on them. I hope it was healing for everyone.
Is someone cutting onions?
It’s not often that my Mets fan self roots for anyone wearing a Dodgers uniform but happy that Vesia got to put on a show for those who supported him and his wife during what I imagine to be the hardest time in their life.
All the thanks and praise for healthcare workers who show up day in and day out to help, support, and quite literally save lives while being so grossly underpaid and under appreciated.
When the news came out about him missing the rest of the post season run we all kind of figured but held our breath. When the Blue Jays put Alex Vesia’s number on their hats everyone knew. There is no other loss like the one he and Kayla went through.
You never expect to go into labor and not bring your baby home.
My wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter at 20 weeks, unfortunately that’s just too early. Had an amazing team of doctors/nurse’s that helped us during the worst time in our lives.
A year later my wife gave birth to our beautiful son. Got to finally thank the doctor who was there with my wife when we lost our daughter. It’s tough during the time to show appreciation when you are such at a low. Glad I was able to shake his hand and thank him a year later.
After the World Series last year, Dodgers fans donated at least $75,000 to the local children’s hospital in Toronto, which followed on the heels of Blue Jays fans doing the same for the local Seattle children’s hospital after the Jays defeated the Mariners.

I maybe a huge Mariners fan/suffer but I’ve always thought about Kayla and Alex after they lost their little girl. After seeing this, I have to say Kayla and Alex are class acts. I’m glad they’re getting the therapy they need after losing their little girl.
I’m holding my baby boy a little tighter after reading about Baby Vesia. May she rest in peace.
