Thank god i am going through a break up just before an Olivia Rodrigo’s album release
To put this in perspective, Harry Styles lates had 2 million pre-saves, and got 63 million streams (of a somewhat longer album then Olivia’s). Arirang had 4 million pre-saves and got 110 million streams. By contrast, the romantic had 2 million presaves and did 26 million streams. And of course that album which I love but you probably hate (but know the words to every song to) had 6 million pre-saves, and 250 million first day streams. so there’s no real relationship between pre-saves and debut streams.
I think that Olivia is likely to debut in the 60 million range, as her past albums have, but it could do much better. Actually, the ratio between first day streams and pre-saves seems like an interesting metric. I wonder what it means.
