Ex-Prince Andrew’s new home reportedly showed how far his royal life had shrunk. The former duke was said to be adjusting to a much smaller setup in Norfolk, where daily life now looked quieter, slower, and far more restricted than before.
As per a new claim, Marsh Farm did not just mark a change of address. It marked a change of status. The property may still look comfortable to most people, but royal observers said it reflected confinement, reduced freedom, and a steep personal comedown.
Ex-Prince Andrew’s new home represents ‘total fall from grace,’ per royal author
As per the i news report, royal historian Ian Lloyd said the move to Marsh Farm was serious from a royal point of view. He said the five-bedroom property represented “an absolute, total fall from grace.” Lloyd also described Ex-Prince Andrew’s new home in harsher terms. “In my opinion, Marsh Farm is the most luxurious open prison in the country,” he said. He added that Andrew was “more or less confined there.” That view came from the contrast alone. Marsh Farm was a major step down from Royal Lodge.
Meanwhile, the report said Marsh Farm came with practical limits too. The house reportedly sat on a smaller estate and offered less privacy. Lloyd said Andrew was now “more likely to be papped.” The article also noted he had largely been staying out of sight since moving earlier this month. Workmen were photographed installing Sky TV, and the 66-year-old was said to spend much of his time watching television and walking his dogs. Lloyd called his recent life “very sedentary.” He also said, “He doesn’t do a great deal anyway. He’s famously lazy.”
Then the piece widened the picture beyond one house. Dr. Craig Prescott said Ex-Prince Andrew was living in a form of “internal exile.” He added that the scrutiny around any outing sharply limited his options. Grant Harrold also said one could imagine him “rattling around” Royal Lodge without purpose before the move. Now, Marsh Farm appeared to offer less grandeur, less privacy, and less room to disappear. Ex-Prince Andrew’s new home may still have been comfortable by ordinary standards, but the report’s central point was blunt. Marsh Farm looked less like a refuge and more like a controlled retreat.
