I’ve rarely seen a long confirmation dress like Josephine’s, and I really like it. When Isabella wore a white suit for her confirmation it sparked a trend and you couldn’t pass a bridal/confirmation dress shop without seeing white suits in their shop windows. I wonder if Josephine’s dress is going to have the same effect
Saw that video wherein Prince Vincent stuck out his tongue before going inside the palace and Princess Josephine lightly calling him out for it. I remember Princess Josephine coming up with those cheeky antics when she was much younger. Oh how much they’ve grown. 😍
For those not intimate with Denmark or Lutheranism, the confirmation is a rite in which you affirm your belief in God – as people are baptised as babies, this is when you affirm your faith and baptism. In the Church of Denmark this happens when kids are around 13-14 years old, and it’s a really big thing – girls in white dresses, boys in suits, huge family parties, expensive gifts, etc.
While only 35% of the Danish population believes in God, 70% of Danes are still part of the Church of Denmark. So while the confirmation is obviously a religious ceremony, plenty of people don’t really think of it as a religious event or an important rite. It has instead become a coming-of-age celebration in the modern age, and a good excuse for a nice family party
Could anyone explain why Felipe VI can be Vincent’s godfather being Catholic? Or does that not matter in the Church of Denmark or the Lutheran faith in general?
Mary smiling on the opposite end of the ol’ Marge is a vibe 🐾
It’s good to see Joachim’s family is still close with Frederik’s after the princely titles for their children were removed and caused a rift, as I recall Joachim’s and Marie’s sentiments.
In the second picture, CP Christian looks like he is about to say something sarcastic regarding his father. Having been both a son and a father, I know this is par for the course and probably hilarious.
Lovely looking family!
