AI can be useful in many fields, especially programming, medicine and statistics. Creating images using AI has been more harmful than beneficial so far though. There's nothing AI can create than a human can't. AI is faster, but humans are losing their jobs and people are using it to create fake images, even porn of people they want to harm.
These celebrity pictures are harmless. Other than pointless use of AI, which creates water and energy waste, there's no issue with it.
But there will be and there already are AI generated images that create a lot of issues in the future.

I’m with the creator. These are so fake its just fun. They are not trying to deceive its just make believe for fun.

BBC is maybe taking this one a little too seriously. Its clearly a bit of tongue in cheek fun.
If it was AI being used with actual consequence rather than who's dating who, then you maybe have a point.
