Boards of Canada-style famous is the only type I’d ever want to be. Release one album every ten years and vanish from existence afterwards, this type of weird shit is what my own personalized hell would look like

Can’t blame the dude. But damn if he signed something for the shop, post that at least. Sheesh.

Good for him, it’s pretty messed up to post this and I’m glad he’s calling out the behavior for how creepy it is.

Not only is this creepy as fuck, but it’s also Darwin Award-level stupidity from a business perspective. What they should have done is ask nicely for a photo and permission to post it on their social media. Tyler is also known to be pretty nice about granting fan requests for photos. They could have gotten much better publicity that way without violating anyone’s boundaries. What a fucking idiot.

I appreciate him making the larger point that cameras are fucking *everywhere* now, and that society has become way too comfortable with mass surveillance.

pretty reasonable too, I mean he clearly doesn’t care that she posted about him being there. Could’ve easily just posted the signed thing which is a totally normal thing to do.

this is beyond just celebrities too. I say this all the time but I strongly dislike how normalized it is to post photos or videos of anyone in public onto social media without their consent or even their knowledge. it’s become weirdly normalized to do that and I wish we’d all just push back on it a bit harder.

  8. The screenshot looks like a police BOLO. (Be on the look out.) There was a better way for that bookstore to do this.

  9. This is weird behavior. Don’t do stuff like this. He thought enough of you to shop at your store, don’t be weird.

  10. One time I was out at Burgers Never Say Die and I saw Lionel Boyce ordering. Didn’t want to be rude and interrupt his day so i just kept my distance and admired from afar. Few minutes later Tyler pulls up and daps Lionel up. The group I was with was obviously VERY excited. I try to maintain a low key profile and just continue to admire from afar. But as Tyler was heading back to his BEAUTIFUL car, my friend screams “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOOOOOST” and I sharply turn to him to tell him to shut the fuck up.

Tyler, if youre reading this, I dont talk to that mouth breather anymore and I hope you find the peace you need.

  11. He’s right for this and exactly why I do not envy celebs. I personally would have a hard time dealing with this.

Yah it would’ve been way less weird to just ask for a pic or a signature, he’s already in your store and you separate yourself with a security camera? Weird dystopian grossness.

  13. It may not have been the owner he’s referring to but an employee. Still gross and invasive behavior though
