I am very pleased to see this because I believe it not only means she is HEALED, healed, but also that she might be straying from LDS stuff. Is it still typical they frown on this stuff or is it ok for Mormon Lite? She is so admirable and I hope she is very happy.

I used to be a rape crisis counselor. We never called our clients victims. They are Survivors. If you made it to me in the emergency room, it was because you achieved something amazing. You had survived a life threatening experience. A victim is someone who had something happen to them. A survivor chose to live. A survivor decides what his or her next chapter will be. If I were still doing that job, I’d have this printed out to refer to daily.

I recommend the doc on Netflix about her case (Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart) in which she participated. She displayed tremendous strength and courage during her ordeal and since then has done tremendous work to prevent sexual violence (including fighting against abstinence only sex “education”) and support survivors. Based on the doc, I think she is no longer LDS. She is a remarkable woman.
