I grew up in Baltimore 30 years ago and I legitimately once bumped into John Waters coming out of a corner store. I stupidly said something like “John Waters, what are you doing here??”

Without missing a beat or step he said “This is my town, where else would I be? Fucking Detroit??!”

We both laughed and he carried on briskly walking off. Dude is the genuine article.

He’s so awesome. Watch Serial Mom if you haven’t already seen it. Heck, watch it again if you have!

Oh, thank you, TIL about John Waters. I’ll make my life more interesting now.

You should crosspost over on r/maryland & r/baltimore if you haven’t already.

IMHO he’s a National Treasure. My BIL used to live on the street where Divine grew up. I’d imagine John & Glenn hanging out on the street.

  5. I read one of his book, Mr. Know-It-All: The Tarnished Wisdom of a Filth Elder, last year. Kind of a memoir, kinds of essays on different topics. A little behind the scenes stuff. There is a chapter about him doing LSD with Mink Stole on his 70th birthday

Happy 80th birthday to a true legend. Still one of the most fearless and original voices in film.

My sister and I play A John Waters Christmas from start to finish on Christmas Eve every year whether we’re together or not (we live states away from the other) and it brings nothing but joy.

    ✨Happy birthday to a true legend✨

I love John Waters – except for when he defended Johnny Depp. Polyesyer with Smell-o-vision and Tab Hunter, what a hoot! I loved Hairspray, too. Anyways…
