Is this considered weird? I’m not a religious person but it sounds like a nice, harmless gesture imo. It’s not like Anne has to keep it or read it if she doesn’t want to.

I get the intent, I’m sure they were nice, but I’m not fond of anyone giving out religious tracts that weren’t expressly asked for.

I would take this as a kind gesture, that this fan felt seen. Maybe it’s not that deep.

Edit: Thank you for my first award!

  5. I read the headline wrong and thought she gifted one to a fan, was very confused 😅

I initially thought this was weird but I also feel like for lots of people who had a religious upbringing, it has become more of a cultural element for them than religious. So when they do things like this, they are not sharing a religion but rather their culture. I am “muslim” by birth with a secular upbringing and a lot of these gestures, I have a cultural relationship with them

I’d lose my shit as a Chinese-American if she said “Ni Hao Ki Lan”.

I’m muslim and this is firstly wierd as fuck.

Ishowspeed said wallahi at a wwe show maybe I should gift one to him too?

Plus on a religious level you shouldn’t handle the Quran without having done wudu.

As a Muslim, I chuckled. Not sure what the man / fan was thinking (bruh she aint reverting!) but Anne was graceful in taking it.

Bro as an ex-Muslim I thought this shit was so funny and her getting one is even funnier? If it’s trying to convert her it’s not funny but I’m like 99% sure it’s just a joke 😭😭

I’m a Muslim & i have to say it’s very very weird. She said one word and idiots are doing this. This is embarrassing.

I don’t think comparisons to the bible/christianity around this are fair. The US is currently aligned with Christian nationalism. There are multiple genocides being committed against Muslim populations. ICE is targeting Muslims. US made bombs and sanctions are mass killing Muslims across SWANA. Muslims have been targeted and ethnically cleansed in places like southern Lebanon (with Christian neighbours being warned they’ll be targeted if they open their homes to these displaced neighbours). 6 million Muslims alone have been *recently* displaced between Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Iran. In Quebec hundreds of Muslim women have just lost their jobs in the public service because they wear a hijab. Hollywood has been a key propaganda tool in manufacturing consent for all of this Islamophobia. None of this systemic/state violence or oppression is targeting Christian’s or Christianity.

Maybe the conversation should instead be about how young Muslim people in the global north are so desperate for these crumbs from celebrities precisely because of the horrors their communities are facing and the reality there’s been very little opposition – or acknowledgement – by people with power or a platform like hers?
