One guest is checking out early. Helena Bonham Carter is leaving The White Lotus season 4 due to creative differences, Deadline reports. Production for the show began last week. “With filming just underway on Season 4 of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” an HBO spokesperson told Vulture. “The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”
Season four follows a new group of rich people at a fancy hotel, but this time, there are two locations: Château de la Messardière and Hôtel Martinez, aka the White Lotus du Cap and White Lotus Cannes. The guests will be in France for the Cannes Film Festival, so there will probably be a lot of A-list actors, filmmakers, and assistants trying to make movie magic happen. There’s reportedly some filming in Paris, but most of the plot is allegedly set in the resorts. The hotel is always the best part of a work trip.
