Ahead of Shakira’s May 2 “Todo Mundo No Rio” concert, a construction worker has died while helping to build the stage on Copacabana Beach. Event organizers confirmed the tragedy in a statement on social media, translated from Portuguese, “First responders provided initial care at the scene, and the Fire Department was immediately called to transport the patient. Unfortunately, the professional passed away at the hospital.” While Shakira has yet to address the tragic accident publicly, she did share her excitement for the upcoming concert earlier that day on social media. Cancel the show out of respect for his family. It doesn't make sense to put on a show if a staff member has died. And everyone else is shaken up. NOTHING TO CELEBRATE. 😢😢
