While it’s uncommon for U.S. teams to sing the Canadian national anthem before games, the Sabres make an exception at every home game due to Buffalo’s proximity to the Canadian border.

🎵”…Glorious and free. Oh, Canada we stand on guard for thee…”🎶.

While some fans booed the Canadian anthems it’s really heartening that the Buffalo spectators did this. Especially since they have a bunch of Canadian players on their team.

  3. it’s standard for US teams to sing the Canadian national anthem if a Canadian team is playing but it is since it’s 2 US teams this is uncommon

  4. The Sabres have a significant Canadian fanbase, especially fans from the Niagara region so it’s sweet that they’ve played both the American and Canadian national anthems before home games, regardless of the opponent. Nice to see our anthem be sung and not booed for idiotic reasons by idiots that don’t realise why we’re currently not fans of the States.

I had the game on in my car, and it was a beautiful moment to share, even over the radio. I love my Canadian friends, and I love your anthem too.

There are a ton of very loyal Sabres fans in Canada. They’ve got a great fan base on both sides of the border.

This was so beautiful to see.

I have to admit, if I was at a game with the American anthem playing, I definitely would not be able to sing along.
