Theo’s death in Coronation Street was confirmed on Friday night, as the murder victim reveal finally aired.
All week it’s been teased one villain would be killed, and it was clear more than one character faced grave danger by the end of the week. But it was Theo’s body that a distraught Betsy Swain stumbled across on the street in the closing moments of Friday’s episode.
We’d known since earlier this year that someone would meet a grim end, and it would spark a whodunnit. After clues aplenty, the latest episode confirmed Theo had been killed.
We still don’t know how he died or who killed him, with all to be revealed very soon. As the episode kicked off, he was still chasing his partner Todd Grimshaw around the cobbles.

Todd was trying to escape his abuser, initially plotting to go to Thailand to spend time with his family. But Theo had stolen his phone and so Todd went to find it, only to be targeted by sinister Theo.
As Todd raced around fearing for his life, Theo ended up back at their flat thinking he might be there. It wasn’t Todd who went to the flat though, and instead someone else came across Theo.
Todd, meanwhile, had fled to safety and was hiding while we didn’t see this onscreen. He called Christina Boyd to let her and George Shuttleworth know what had happened.
Christina set off to go and find him, warning George to stay there. Back at the flat, Summer Spellman was terrified as she came face-to-face with Theo, the man who had killed her father figure Billy.

Left alone and feeling trapped, Summer feared something had happened to Todd. Theo forced Summer to hand over her phone which he then chucked out of the window, leaving her terrified.
We didn’t see what happened next, with gaps in time. The next thing we saw was Betsy and her pal Lauren Bolton heading down the cobbles, plotting their night out in town.
As a drunk Betsy staggered around, struggling to catch up with Lauren, she wandered into a side entrance to the alley, that runs along the back of the houses. As she came to a stop and came across the scaffolding, her face suddenly dropped.
Suddenly Betsy let out a chilling scream and the camera panned to show she had found a dead body. The identity of the victim was then shown to be, you guessed it, Theo, with actor James Cartwright bowing out.
