Megan Stalter: “I believe in Jesus and I’m gay – people find that confusing. It’s important for people to speak out about their faith, because there’s a lot of MAGA people using their Christianity to support evil acts.”

Nothing controversial there. Didn’t Jesus (the real jesus, not ‘Republican Jesus’) say “Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone” As in, nobody is better than anyone else in the eyes of god, so knock off the persecuting!

She’s right and it’s a shame that MAGA and the right have co-opted both Christianity and the flag

I grew up going to church (a liberal Methodist Church with female pastors) but I have greatly distanced myself from all things religion thanks to where politics have taken the concept.

Same with red, white, and blue. You won’t catch me near that shit. I don’t want anyone thinking I’m a Republican.

Two things can be true. For example, the Catholic Church is supposedly founded by Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church also hides pedos. So there’s that

Glad she is happy with herself.

I’m not religious, not even spiritual, but people can believe whatever they want, as long as they’re not using those beliefs as an excuse to hurt or exploit others.

She’s such an interesting person to watch and see what she does next. Really loving our Jesus Queer Girl / almost Lesbian.

  6. I get where she’s coming from. Homosexuality is obviously not a sin, but even looking at it from that framework, the hate from some Christian groups just doesn’t make sense. While I was deconstructing (raised Catholic), I often wondered why some sins were considered so horrible that you’d get groups like the Westboro Baptist church going feral over them, but then so many others were considered forgiven thanks to Jesus dying on the cross. From what I remember, the Bible teaches that *no one* is free from sin, including those that hoot and holler over the very existence LGBT+ community. Those types pick and choose Bible verses to match their agenda and prosecute others in the name of the god they claim to worship.

I’ve been an atheist since childhood but if all Christians were like Meg, maybe I’d be more willing to listen to their preaching. Still wouldn’t believe but I’d listen with respect instead of eye rolling. Alas she is a rarity.

What’s up with everyone being religious? How can we believe in fantasy? In fiction?

  9. I mean the bible also promotes slavery so its not like once you ignore the anti gay parts it gets much better
