Sheldon and Amy are working together to tackle a complex theory in super-asymmetric physics; however, Amy has her own neuroscience research project and is so fully immersed in her experiments that she has no time to discuss academic matters with Sheldon. Left out in the cold, Sheldon was bored to the point of madness. No one could satisfy his desire to express himself, so he went to Leonard and Penny’s apartment and forcibly dragged Penny to listen to him talk about science. When Leonard got home from get off work, he opened the door to find Sheldon occupying the living room and “lecturing” Penny. He immediately tried to find an excuse to leave, not wanting to be pestered by Sheldon.
Penny reacted quickly, stopping Leonard on the spot and coaxing him gently, forcing him to stay and “attend the class” with her, trying to rescue herself from Sheldon’s “class”.
Leonard looked devastated and told Sheldon to stop bothering other men’s wives. Sheldon justified himself by saying he was just too bored and had no one to talk to about science with.
He remains completely oblivious to the fact that he is intruding on others, seeing himself merely as a poor, neglected soul.
Eventually, Penny seizes the perfect opportunity to make her escape, unceremoniously dumping Sheldon onto Leonard.
