The Met Gala’s red carpet is the place to go to make a big fashion statement. Your fave celebs show up in outlandish, over-the-top, and often iconic looks, and 2026’s event was no different.

This year, the dress code was “Fashion is Art,” and while some stars took that literally, others wore gowns and suits that were beautiful enough to be museum-worthy.

To celebrate the night, we posted a handful of the most memorable celebrity looks on social media, including the stars of Heated Rivalry, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Teyana Taylor, and queer celebrities Sarah Paulson and Troye Sivan, and asked people to sound off in the comments.

While a large portion of Out’s followers were enraged by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos chairing the event and called out the Met Gala for being out of touch and feeling more like The Hunger Games than an event worth celebrating, there were also plenty who loved some of the fashion on display — or made cheeky remarks about the looks that didn’t quite hit the mark.

Keep scrolling to see which stars understood the assignment and which ones got a failing grade.
