      >Matty!!!!!

      >Oh my God…How am I going to live without your light in my life on a daily basis? I know that light has been dimmed at times and there were moments I was so scared it was going to go out all together. You have always come back. I so thank you for choosing to live this life. You have so much to give and not just to the masses with your talent but as a friend and a husband and a father. We have come a long way baby. Since that night we met at that bar who’s name I can’t remember. Remember?…On La Cienega? The sports guy? Anyway…I love you dear friend. I’m so proud of you and I am always here for you. You may not think to call me but I am always here. This has been quite a home we have shared and I so cherish it and you.

      >I love you

      >Jenny!

That letter made me tear up, anyone dealing with an addiction please know there is light at the end of the tunnel and there are so many people around you that care about you

They listed a brand new in box Gamecube from 2001. Apparently sealed. Seems like a random thing of his to sell. I understand the Friends memorabilia and personal stuff, but a game console? What about his TVs and like his microwave then? I dunno seems random.

“I so thank you for choosing to live this life.”

If you haven’t, it’s worth reading his book about how hard he fought to keep living after these years that she’s referring to.

    5. I wish Jennifer was able to get it back, it seems awfully personal for some stranger to have. ☹️ (I understand it’s for auction but was it OKed by Jennifer first?)

I wonder if the estate reached out to the individuals who sent such personal things first to see if they’d like to have them back, if they just invite them to buy them at the charity auction, or if they just find out it’s being sold to the public via the news like the rest of us?

    7. It makes me sad that things that were important to them just get sold. I get that the person is dead but still….

Does she go by Jenny often? I’ve only ever heard her called Jen and Jennifer. I like to think since he went by Matty to his friends maybe he called her Jenny as a little nickname.

This does feel too personal to share, it’s sad even back then how aware they were of his struggles.

    9. Jennifer is the rightful owner of this letter. Doesn’t matter if it’s for charity, auction something else.

I just don’t want to read a personal letter like that, at all. Some things should stay private.

This is a very sweet and loving interaction between two friends, with even more meaning retroactively.

It feels really invasive for someone to not only reveal this but put it up for monetary bid. I hope we swing back culturally to valuing people’s relationships as their own and not for public consumption.

Agree with the consensus here—this isn’t something the public should be privy to. It should belong to Jennifer. It certainly shouldn’t be for sale, ew.

They are auctioning off his WALLET. With his credit card, SAG AGTRA card, health insurance card. This all feels extremely gross.

Oh wow, this is grossly invasive (not you, OP!), personal letters are none of the public’s business.

Whoever put these items up for auction is a ghoul.

I always think about that moment in his book when he says “God, you can do whatever you want to me. Just please make me famous.” Life is so fragile, sometimes we forget to enjoy it when it has nothing to offer except quiet moments.

This is so wrong. I hope someone buys all of it and gives it back to the family
