Why the quotation marks around Zócalo? It’s a proper noun. Would you call it ‘Times Square’?

This is CRAZY but also just another common happening for these guys. Watching the live stream was such a vibe, the crowd was singing along to BTS songs for like four hours before their appearance.
The members themselves looked shocked, after 13 years they still get surprised pikachu faces when faced with how famous they are. I know it sounds like hyperbole for a fan like me to say these guys don’t act as famous as they are, but they really don’t. They could be self promoting constantly or at glitzy events, instead they generally just make music and perform and keep to themselves. They are like the anti pop star.

Asian culture is huge there. Over 80 million people in Mexico watch anime regularly. Mexico is the 5th largest K-pop market on Spotify globally, and the only Spanish-speaking country in the top 10.

Damn. Mexican fans do not fuckin play.

I had no idea they were so popular in Mexico. In comparison, their comeback concert in S Korea got – attendees (and livestreamed to 18 million) and that was after months of advance notice not a few hours and in their native country.

50,000??? Why does it look bigger than 1999 Woodstock which had 250,000 people at the same time

It really does warm my heart that people in the US are opening their eyes to the behemoth that is Latin America because of these cultural shows and festivals where people are showing up to en masse. The narrative in US media is not great PR for our countries, so I’m glad people are seeing something else.

Art is political. This kind of rub me in the wrong way as a fan of BTS; I’m going to one of their presentations in Chile and it would be hella weird if Kast were taking smiling pictures next to them, I understand the emotional meaning of a public displaying outside of the schedule concerts, but still… idk how to exactly pin point it.
