I honestly get his point. Why white celebs are never questioned similarly, I will never understand.

  2. complete_doodle on

Good for him. He’s right. It’s basically impossible to reach a certain level of stardom in the entertainment world without money that’s questionable in some way. At least he’s honest about it.

Theres so much selective outrage these days that i find his answer to be spot on

“My point is, every dollar, every client, you probe deep enough. An advantage has been taken an angle has been played. Do you want to operate within a system and be successful? Or dream you can change it and be left behind?” – Industry, S2E8

I like the answer and I fully agree. I am not at his level, but even as a consumer, it IS difficult to be a conscious buyer. It’s almost like I might just need to boycott 99% of the brands out there

Riz Ahmed is so underrated, Sound of Metal is such a beautiful film

What an odd thing to ask. Have they asked the same question to any of the other show creators that have worked with Prime?

  8. I mean I struggle every day to do the right thing, what I can afford to boycott.
What money I can give how I can help with cause.
My job helps people but still I feel emence guilt daily
None of us get out of this clean.
I appreciate him not saying he supports Amazon or anything. Like he isn’t white washing it.
Its all so damn hard. I want to add what others have said, why are white celebs ever asked this?
I don’t blieve he attended the met gala…thats something

  9. Why are we acting like the brown actor who is extremely talented but ~for some reason~ barely gets mainstream work is Jeff Bezos’ bestie for having a job (in a production that employs hundreds of people beside him, by the way!), when I never see a journalist ask ‘environmentalist’ Leonardo DiCaprio about actually hanging out at Bezos’ mega polluting mega yacht? Odd.

I mean all of the entertainment industry has always been fucked. The creative people want to do the creative stuff and the business people just want the money and power.
Same with the music industry, it’s not like suddenly it’s fucked with Spotify. Spotify is fucking evil. But the music industry always has been. Look at Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, fucking Phil Spector.
There has to be a line, people you won’t work with.
But if we refused any dirty money at all there’d only be Taylor Sheridan and Kid Rock putting shit out there.

Good answer, and he’s right. Most of us work for corporations that are not doing good for the world.

the way i can literally hear him going “fucking hell bro” 😭

BAIT IS SUCH A GOOD SHOW. The battle at Kandahar line😂😂😂😂

Idk, this feels like such a cop out.

Also, reminder he’s doing the HBO HP.

You don’t get to be involved with two shitty shits and act like there aren’t good people making good things.

  15. This answer might work if he didn’t do the Harry Potter audiobook. It’s not like he didn’t have a choice but to help JK Rowling make more money that she can use to lobby against trans rights

  16. Helping_Cicada_324 on

You can be against this, but this is a real and honest answer and that means much.

Always jarring to see Riz in those Harry Potter Audible audiobook ads on Youtube where he’s the voice of Snape of all people. I quite liked Mogul Mowgli and always hope Desi actors get more gigs but a Harry Potter audiobook in the year 2025/2026? **Genuinely fucking disappointing.**

This is as recent as November 2025 to May 2026, when the last audiobooks released. If anyone wants to know more and see more of who was in the cast, they can search “Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions”. Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall, and more.

  18. ledankestnoodle on

He’s right but still, fuck him for working on the Harry Potter audiobook

This is the best answer because it recognizes nuance, which is something lacking in our society and how we process morality these days. It’s why the American left has failed to connect with the base voting demographic of the right, even though the policies of the left would benefit these people, and so they vote against their own interests.
