Taraji P. Henson admitted that she’s “confused” as to why certain celebrities showed up to the 2026 Met Gala due to Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos’ involvement.
In a comment on social media influencer Meredith Lynch calling out people for attending the event despite Bezos’ involvement, Henson echoed what Lynch had to say. “If you are a celebrity and you attend the Met Gala and you wear the ICE OUT pin, please note that I will be dragging you in perpetuity,” said Lynch, as seen in the Instagram video here, in which she highlighted how Bezos has backed Donald Trump, who has cut art funding across the country.
“I am so confused by some ppl that are going,” Henson wrote in a comment on a post. “I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!”

Henson did not attend the Met Gala this year, despite attending last year. Bezos served as one of the lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs of the 2026 Met Gala alongside his wife, Lauren Sánchez. The couple reportedly paid around $10 million to sponsor the event. Other co-chairs at this year’s festivities included Beyoncé, Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams.

The day before the event, activists projected graphics visible from Bezos’ penthouse calling for people to “boycott the Bezos Met Gala.” Bezos has a poor track record when it comes to several pertinent issues, especially labor rights and supporting the arts, among other topics.
Several big-name celebrities who previously attended the Met Gala were notably absent this year, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Lewis Hamilton, Bella Hadid, and Ariana Grande.
