For people outside India, Woh Ladki Jo is a super iconic Bollywood song linked to Shah Rukh Khan and the movie Baadshah. Almost every 90s Bollywood fan here instantly recognizes it.

Then DJ Ruchir Kulkarni randomly mixed it with Levitating and somehow it worked ridiculously well. The remix went viral everywhere because nobody expected a Bollywood classic and a Dua song to blend THAT perfectly.

So when actually performed that remix live in India, the crowd completely lost it. You could tell she knew exactly what would hit with the audience. One of those rare pop culture crossover moments that genuinely felt cool instead of forced.

I love how she celebrates the places she performs at; IIRC she learned some local songs during her tour? It’s lovely

    2. It’s wild to see this as a child of Indian immigrants who came here to the US over 40 years ago. This is so far divorced from their reality. I think they’d have a hard time believing they grew up in this same India.

Oh my GOD. That song just activated a part of me that was lost for over 2 decades!! Baadshah is one of my all time fav bollywood film and then to here this song in a Dua Lipa concert is surreal!!

    4. What’s with all the Dua Lipa (ads) posts recently?! lol I love her but come on, it feels way too forced

She might’ve been exposed to Bollywood growing up. She’s British Albanian and obviously South Asian culture is huge in Britain. But Bollywood has a large cultural influence beyond South Asia, including the Balkans.
