The reason why Emilia Clarke hasn’t done any plastic surgery: ‘The thing that I worry about is I think that one procedure can lead to another, where does it end?’

In my opinion, Emilia is such a good role model. I absolutely love her. She’s so bubbly and cute but then can go play someone like Daenerys.

I always recommend Me Before You to people who haven’t seen it.

I wonder if going under is more dangerous for her since she had those brain hemorrhages.

100% with her on all of it, except I think we need to, as a society, completely decouple from the idea of beauty. you don’t need to be beautiful. just be. unfortunately we’re many thousands of years away from that so her point stands well in the time that we’re in.

I think the procedure cascade is something everyone Knows About but doesn’t seem to like to acknowledge. if you’re getting, say, lip filler because you just kind of think to yourself “you know I’d really like bigger lips”, and then you do it and you’re happy and you top it up every couple of years because that’s the *one* change you wanted, then that’s great. rad. cool. as a trans person I certainly am not going to tell people that body modifications are bad lmao

but….if you get lip filler because you think your entire face is wrong, you’re going to think “oh, I also need cheek filler”, and then you’re going to think “oh but I really need Botox”, and then buccal fat removal, then a bleph, then a facelift, then a neck lift, then ab sculpting and lipo because now your face looks how you want it but your body doesn’t, and so on and so forth. I think it’s good to examine WHY you want these changes and if it’s something born from a genuine small time desire (like bigger lips (or thinner lips idk if that’s a thing), or if it’s from body dysmorphia and psychological issues.

if you’re fundamentally unhappy with your existence and the way your body exists, I think you should be questioning why that is instead of spending oodles and oodles of money on quick fixes.

It’s very obvious from the clip that she believes that women altering their appearance is not ’empowering’ and complete BS. But she’s trying to be as nice as possible about what she’s saying.

Sad the the feels the need to tone police and censor herself because the choice ‘feminist’ mob (aka pick-mes) decided that criticizing surgery and injectables is misogyny.

The damage that liberal/choice feminism has done to women will be analyzed and studied in future textbooks.

She seems like an incredibly lovely person and I wish her all the best but she’s a remarkably bad actress. She’s Gal Gadot tier for me.

      this is how i feel

totally disregarding the fact that i’d like to strive to be happy with myself & who i am and i haaaaate the idea of societal norms for attractiveness getting the better of me, i feel that if i started i would be one of those people who would just keep going

My mom also told me not to do anything to my eyebrows and I get compliments on them as well.

I am the same age as her and I feel it is a much more conscious mindset to have to hold when you’re approaching 40, that I’m beautiful even if I don’t look like the beauty standard (not that Emilia has to wrestle with this as much LOL), because you definitely see those small things starting that everything around us tells us “minor” interventions would “fix”. But like her, I’m way too scared of the procedure cascade.

Would rather spend the time and money on accepting myself as I am (and as another poster mentioned, decoupling from maintaining beauty as a value) than time and money on changing how I look and that not being guaranteed to make me even like my looks anyway!

    9. The contrast with the interviewer’s distractingly frozen face is insane. Emilia looks so much warmer and more fun!

Emilia is such a lovely and delightful person.

Someone please gives this wonderful lady a great project

    11. Yeah. It could be a constant maintenance thing like a car. I think we’re definitely veering towards an interesting future with some of the procedures being done

    12. Say what you want about her eyebrows but I think she has one of the most infectious smiles I’ve ever seen

Exactly! Some ppl become so obsessed with perfection & it never ends.

Very much IMO of course but most cosmetic facial surgery is a bad idea driven by terrible societal pressures; she’s completely right that people are already beautiful as they are. Our vainglorious culture is just deeply immature.

And for an actor it’s a death sentence for their primary instrument, and some really great actors have fallen under the spell of it, which is a shame. Some great talent we only know are great, now, because of their pre-cosmetic work. But when Bullock has nothing going on on her face but a tear rolls down her cheek, well.. I know she’s doing the work and is great because of her previous work, but if that was my first exposure to her work what would I have thought?
