Colin Jost and Michael Che did their Joke Swap segment for the SNL Season 51 finale: “I wanted to take a minute to tell everybody what I really think. Michael Jackson did nothing wrong! He was right to molest all those kids! And they were lucky…”

idk maybe cause I’m not American but I don’t think I’ve ever found SNL funny at all

      these are just pathetic jokes

honest question from a European: is SNL still relevant/popular in the us, do ppl actually watch this on tv? whenever i asked my online friends from the states they said they dont watch it and i just assumed its because we’re in our early 20s so technically not SNLs targeted demographic

SNL is an outdated formula. It was fresh in the 70s but it’s become stale and hacky now. Tim Robinsons proved that.

At some point comedy became less about actually being clever or funny and more about who can say the most crude or uncomfortable thing for shock value. Watching SNL sometimes feels like a competition to see who can make the room react the hardest instead of who can write the best joke. And the exaggerated fake reactions from the cast don’t help either 😭

If you’re allowed to go this far with the jokes why can’t they also be funny

I love that for some reason they can be as offensive as possible for the joke swap but nothing else lmao

    7. Why bother telling these jokes if they can’t resist breaking for even 10 seconds? The delivery is all off. Ultimately, theyre just saying really crass things in an awkward way. Is that the joke?

The opener was a lovely 🖕🏼to the regime. But I felt like there were way too many PDF “jokes”. Ultimately, it felt like they were beating a dead horse. Or Lauren Michaels is ready to close up shop.
