I will never, ever forget that Drake started to support Tory Lanez, a man whom he had previously hated, solely because Meg came forward about the shooting. Like, to put it another way, Drake heard that a man that he disliked had abused a woman *and decided to start supporting him based on that.* Fuck him, and Eminem, and everybody else who tried to humiliate Meg, forever.

I think we as a society should stop giving a shit about what pitchfork says

He probably could’ve and should’ve pared down 30 tracks into a solid 10-song album but he prolly thinks everything he spits is hot fire but he’s no Dylan.

I know people love to use Pitchfork as an arbiter of culture for artists they hate, but honestly, Pitchfork focuses on outlandishly harsh reviews to drive clicks… the majority of the time.

I do not like Drake. I do not plan to seek out any song on this album, but I also don’t believe Pitchfork writes reviews honestly for the majority of mainstream artists. They are writing reviews like Regina George wrote in her Burn Book, kicking their feet under the table and giggling at how scathing they are…

    5. I like some of Drake’s music but he is a super unlikeable person. If he was likable I’m sure reviews would be way more positive.

He’s pushing 40, has a son, and instead of showing any progression and maturity he just sounds more bitter as time goes on.

This is a guy who has too many enablers and has zero ability to reflect on anything. Meanwhile you’ve got rappers like Nas and Jay-Z who have created insane wealth and legacies, yet have shown real growth in their content and sound like adults with responsibilities.

I respect the way Drake represents Toronto, as someone who’s born and raised here myself….but the music is incredibly boring.

Damn Pitchfork has really been coming out swinging lately (and I’m here for it)

Him and Nicki have the same problem. They use every new song to tell you how great they are instead of showing it. Neither have made “fun” music since 2015 imo

Guaranteed the majority of people clapping this on didn’t even listen to the albums. The whole article is just pure bait and slop.

Drake makes palatable hip hop/rap for the average fan and therefore gets the streaming numbers that he and his record company want by releasing bloated beyond belief projects. His music has no depth or genuineness to it just like Drake himself. It’s sad a guy his age is still making petty and soulless music

I haven’t listened to the album(s) but my opinion on double/triple albums remains unchanged:

Every time an artist wants to release a double (or triple) album, someone needs to sit them down and make them choose the 12 best songs from the group and put out a single album.

I don’t think you can call Drake delusional. He raps about being rich and he’s actually rich, unlike most rappers

Personally I stopped having fun with Drake’s music when it took this bitter angry pivot toward woman. Early in his career he got clowned for being the sensitive singing rapper but that’s what drew a lot of women to him.

It had this corny “nice guy” vibe but it was digestible and he still came across likable. Nice For What is the last song of his that I remember being an explicitly cute fun for the girls. Now he just makes music for frat boys and weird Twitch streamers that hate Megan Thee Stallion.

The fact they didn’t get Alphonse Pierre to review this feels like an act of mercy by Pitchfork
