“I knew that as soon as I said yes, my life would change… and my mom said this is a story that you love, and you’re thinking about saying no to it because of the size of it. And she was right. I love this story, and if I had said no I would regret it every day.”

On one hand I loved Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss….
But on the other I heard Naya Rivera was considered for Katiniss and the idea she was snubbed for Katniss haunts me to this day.

There’s something about this being 15 years ago and Shrek being 25 years ago that doesn’t line up for me. Are we sure time is linear?? Those feel like they happened at the same time in my life

My brain couldn’t handle the 15 years ago part it registered this as a reboot😭

15 years ago feels insane but thinking about it, I was in middle school and the girlies were ravenous over this… a cultural reset imo

She reminds me, of a young Helen Mirran!

Insane that people were calling her “too fat” to play Katniss. Her perfomance was stellar.

This is one of the better movie series IMO. I saw every movie in the theater and it was great on the big screen.

I was a very big fan of the book series (I read the first book in one sitting, I started it one afternoon and I simply kept reading until I was done…to be young again!) and I was very nervous that I wouldn’t like the movies. Book people definitely understand the danger of your favorite books becoming a movie or TV show, truly horrifying changes can be made, and the actors can simply be the wrong choice.
To me, Jennifer is perfect in this role. I still cry when I see the “I volunteer as tribute” scene during my rewatch every few years. My favorite of the movies is Catching Fire but I’m always happy to watch them all.

I remember Lyndsy Fonseca was also considered for the role. This was on the heels of Nikita so I was so upset when Jennifer was cast because I thought Lyndsy was the clear choice.
I’m happy to be wrong. Jennifer was fantastic!

Fantastic casting. She brought a lot of vulnerability yet strength to Katniss. My big issue with the films was that the first film looked very low budget. I liked catching fire as a film more than the books.

i read the books and vividly remember being in class with my friends saying “WHO is this jennifer lawrence?” we were so skeptical. i haven’t watched the new ones but the original four movies were such a treat.

Did they photoshop her neck here? Look at the first picture compared to the second. Unhinged choice.
