> “That was so mishandled,” Teller told IndieWire in Cannes. “The reason why I have not done profiles is because I said, ‘Wow, if I’m not doing this interview on camera, this person can misquote things or put things out of order or say things that didn’t happen.’ It felt like such a violation of what actually transpired.”
> “I told my team, ‘Guys, I don’t think I’m doing this again, because I’m reading this and this doesn’t sound like me to me. This is not life, so why would I ever want to be a part of something where they can just put that in?’” he continued. “So it’s unfortunate that being a good person, that doesn’t sell. People want to click on the negativity. If you go to bed and put your head on your pillow and how you treat people truly, that’s what matters. That [2015] interview was like 12 years ago.”

Beyonce doesn’t really do interviews but like, … she’s her. Miles is not famous enough to never do another magazine interview!

People can read you a completely different way than what youre intending. I mean, theres been times where I felt I was being polite but the person thought I was rude, lol.

Did he really ask the reporter to cut his meat for him though

Perhaps reading the article and realizing he sounded like a dick was an opportunity to stop being a dick.

I remember this and it did. Frankly, I do see how that would sour you on those things.
This remains one of my all-time favorite magazine articles. I think Joaq would agree.

Why would he even bring this up? I missed the original Esquire article and would have forever, and therefore kept an overall positive impression of him otherwise. Now I’ve read the Esquire article and, indeed, he comes off as a major-league douche.

Yeah he’s fully a dick

This might be a 6 of one, half-dozen of the other, type situation
He might have earned that remark, but putting stuff like that in print can also take on a life of it’s own and can be very irresponsible to just write about unless it’s truly based on something serious

Maybe because he’s a huge asshole?

It wasn’t mishandled. The verbatim quotes in the profile ALONE showed he was a dick. The behaviour described confirmed it. And his subsequent shenanigans gold plate the accusation.
If I’ve seen anything from this Hollywood culture, is that even the most PR controlled, never-say-an-imperfection, manufactured individual will still get haters and bullshit.
Now I’m not saying be a criminal or a creep. But just take your space, and if you’re a bit abrasive then simply do it without apology. Keep moving.
If you can produce profitable or good art, it won’t matter. May even benefit you, people seem to love someone who’s rough around the edges if they’re funny, talented, authentic, or hot.
I would assume any press profile I do would be looking for any drama they can get and may portray me unflatteringly. Let them, and keep in motion.

I still think Miles Teller looks like someone asked ChatGPT to combine the Jonas Brothers into one person.

Once a dick, always a dick.
Period.

I hope that it genuinely was misrepresented.
The hard part about being a dick is you typically don’t *know* you’re being a dick.
I wonder if he did any media training or anything like that, because I’m very sure one of the first things they would tell anyone is “hey, don’t be a dick,” and the second one being “you act like a dick, here’s how you avoid that.”

Ngl I heard that comment about him and it instantly put me off. Reading this I am questioning my judgement now.
