Graduates so need to hear this. I can’t fucking believe all of the keynote speakers this year advocating for AI; they have no shame.

Do humans have original ideas? Don’t we also register data into our brains throughout our lives, which shapes our imagination and thinking processes and results in an idea?
I am anti-AI but I also don’t believe this is an argument against AI

This is performative reactionary thinking that is bad on a strategic level.
The answer to CEOs pumping up AI is to push the system to put money where its mouth is and act as if AI will take 50% of jobs tomorrow.
Best case scenario we have the social safety nets in place, the 3 or 4 day workweek, the UBI and AI really fulfills its promises and we live in an utopia.
Worst case it was all a mass delusion and we have a bubble, and in that case also better have strong safety nets and hedge with a better distribution of labor where we finally manage to claw back a bit of the productivity that has been siphoned upward for the last 50 years
Bernie understands this as an 80+ year old, but sadly the mass of leftists and left adjacent would rather act contrarian to anything any CEO says for reddit/twitter likes even when they are litteraly making the best case for their policies.

I worked, in my college days, at a cut and sew manufacturer in dtla that worked on some of his clothing. He was so kind to all the ladies who sewed, I mean even him coming in was wild bc other fashion designers would just send people instead of coming themselves.
He would attempt speaking to everyone on the floor in Spanish.
I couldn’t afford, back then, his telephone leggings I would see photographed on people by cobra snake, but he actually gave me a pair of them after I mentioned how cute they were. 🖤
