Russell Crowe’s reaction to TMZ’s description of him handling fans: “Clickbait. Everybody got their autograph and selfie, the passage to the hotel was kept free for guests, and I still got to the airport on time. One man, no security. Handled. What’s your problem ?”

If anything, he helped the situation, and hopefully will inspire others to follow along in future swarms like this.

      Fucking hate TMZ.

No issue here with how he reacted. Every celebrity should be able to lay down firm boundaries.

TMZ loves creato g drama and scandal. It’s why people who follow the personal lives of celebrities are giving TMZ so much incentive to keep doing what they’re doing.

Saying “Dont rush in on me, I’ll come to you guys“ is not putting fans as a priority?

      Get a grip TMZ

I remember a clip where he talked about the episode of him that southpark did. He said it cause him to essentially take a step back and examine how he interacts with the world.

I assume TMZ really wants a Fightin Round the World sequel and is tired of him no longer being combative.

On top of everything I else I hate the way the TMZ tweet is using those dashes

Love seeing him fight back on the narrative. He set boundaries to fans and they listened and everybody went about their day.

I still remember my brother, who’s a F1 fan, when Fernando Alonso first got his fame, press were nasty with him, complaining about a photo and article where Fernando Alonso was “yelling” at fans, including a kid in a wheel chair… My brother found the video to show me how Fernando Alonso was yelling at the press members because they’re climbing onto the poor kids wheel chair to get a “better picture”.

Paparazzi are crazy. I don’t really feel bad if celebrities are rude to them, 95% of the time, celebrities are doing it for a very valid reason. And those “professionals” hate to be called out for their nasty behaviour, so, most of the time, they twist what actually happened.

It’s pretty crazy to me that people are still hounding Russell Crowe for autographs and pictures in 2026.

    11. When I say that watching that video caused something…

    12. Being a fan who frequently waits out back of shows for the chance for an autograph (I don’t do hotels but I love meeting musicians) I will say that for the most part everyone nowadays responds well to this kind of direction. There are definitally assholes out there but I’ve seen crowds of 30 behave themselves and all it took was a securtity guard laying down the ground rules and assuring people there was no need to rush because they’d get what they were waiting for.

Also it’s pretty obvious to everyone who’s there as a fan and who’s there as a scalper. I’ve had it happen where I was the only fan in a crowd of people with 5 vinyls each and the artist passed us all over, which I didn’t blame her for at all but it certainly sucked.

Let’s see what TMZ has to say when they see Tugger pulling up to the docks

I’m yet to see a video or post about this where I’m not completely on Russel’s side

I wasn’t even getting, that some sites out there were outraged by this oO its class A behavior actually.

    17. AbjectFoot8711 on

Not to mention, unless it’s a fan event, then fans should not be their first priority all the time. They are still real people with real shit to do and real desires to feel safe out of their houses.

    18. SaveHogwarts on

He handled himself well on both counts.

TMZ has some of the best sources around, and then they go and post stupid shit like this and shoot themselves in the foot.

    19. ace-destrier on

Few of those are actual fans. Most are autograph hunters, paps, and curious passersby or bystanders

And this is outside his hotel. He’s allowed to not be “on”. He has no obligation to even acknowledge anyone. It’s not like this was a film premiere or backdoor at a theatre

    20. absentmindedlurking on

it’s nice to see some celebrities pushing back against the untruths that TMZ likes to sell as “news”

    21. Most of these people have a business selling autographs and photos, I don’t see this as innocent fans waiting outside for him and being barked at. I think he did awesome and love seeing celebs creating boundaries instead of being descended upon by a horde of thirsties.
