I wonder how many actors or celebrities in general are still in the closet and are having these fake public relationships

Sigh… he really was a despicable asshole.

And she thought she had to cooperate. That’s what abuse of power looks like. You’re so indoctrinated to function and take the abuse. And look how many women he let go through that. Even Rikers Island is too good for that rotten being.

Seems like that was the case up until a certain point. Many entertainers hid their preferences for fear that pearl clutchers would get to pearl clutching.

It’s good to see that she’s doing well now🫶🫶🫶🫶

She also accused him of sexual harassment during MeToo, which I was actually surprised by because Cara’s an aristocratic heiress. Both of her parents descend from nobility and she’s childhood friends with princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. I assumed she wouldn’t be an easy target, but Harvey truly harassed every woman under the sun.

As much as it pains me to say it he was right tbh. It would have hugely impacted her career. Most people just werent horrible enough to say it out loud to someones face. I think with the progress we’ve made people forget just how much more intensely homophobic things used to be.
Edit: Lol can only assume the downvotes are from people not old enough to remember how things used to be.

It’s not a “wrong” take tho, even tho his intentions and whole personal are 💩.
Lots of celebs have never come out. Can’t really blame them.

And this is why people believe in theories like Gaylor even though it can get a bit farfetched at times.

Those happen to be two independent variables in her case.

Pretty sure it’s about her lack of talent (she’s mediocre at best) that messed up her acting carreer.
Valerian and Suicide Squad aren’t hallmarks of movie performances, really.
She’s no Kristen Stewart, Cynthia Nixon, Cynthia Erivo, Sarah Paulson, Elliot Page who are quite public about their LGBTQ + status, yet are really successful
They are great performers
That Weinstein fuck hasn’t been in the business since 2017
Blaming him on her failures of the last 9 years is lazy

I just wonder how many celebrity couples we were/are right about being PR and we were gaslighted into thinking that we were wrong

As an Old, I am very very very happy that overall we’ve progressed in this matter (obviously not everywhere and not at all times). But at the same time, something about this makes me seek out stories (real or fictional) of That Time. It’s nuanced because there are obviously “gay panic” defenses and more extreme examples from back then or even now, but there’s also stuff like this. And it’s not only with celebrities, I remember I didn’t come out at work – despite being generally out – for years until I was “established”, because the only other out person I knew in the building was *literally* referred to as “you know, the lesbian” casually by people. And like Cara says here, your reaction back then isn’t “fuck off you bigot”, they wouldn’t get HR’d or socially pressured about it like they would today in that very same building. No, my reaction was to shut the fuck up about my own sexuality, and at most say ”hey, she has a name”.
Sorry for the mind dump. And sorry for what Cara and many others went through at the time. Not only at the hands of creepy and powerful men like Harvey, but the many many “casual” perpetrators that defined our experiences in those years.

She’s the daughter of a billionaire and has like a ton of industry connections, including Joan Collins as a godparent. If anyone’s insulated from that creep Weinstein and doesn’t have to do what he says, its her.
