So the MCU is now openly admitting to being in a slump

good luck with that. it feels like the mcu have been reheating their nachos for the past 5 years now. they need to let the franchise die but unfortunately execs think theres still money to be made

I mean I’m probably going to watch these movies at some point. But I just don’t care about them like I used to. I remember counting down the days until the new Captain America movies came out and taking time off work so I could see the new Avengers movies. Now I just don’t really care.

i just don’t think an overstuffed cameo film is going to do that for me. just give me shang chi 2 and thunderbolts 2 and we’d be fine.

By finding another way to whitewash yet *another* Romani character? Yeah, I’ll pass.

Honestly I just want good storytelling. I understand from a revenue standpoint having stories that intertwine make sense, people need to know what happens next and then after x films there’s the big payoff. But I think they need to take a better comic book approach and not be so scared to have different iterations of the same character over the years. Give someone 2-3 films, wrap up the storyline, and then tease the next actor/round of stories.
They have almost 100 years of Marvel comics to rap into and just can’t seem to go anywhere with them.

To RDJ: they gave you so much money i just dont see how they have enough money for the creatives who are working on everything else. Marvel/Disney mismanaging the budget is all i see

his oscar should be revoked, that’d go a long way in this road for redemption

Marvel put the final nail in the coffin of my trust and respect when they cast RDJ as Doctor Doom. Now, don’t get me wrong. I loved RDJ as Iron Man, but recasting him was the most creatively bankrupt and obvious money-grabbing idea that they executed on. This is closely followed by this movie going hardcore nostalgia bait, and casting *several* actors from the original 2000s X-Men. I love those movies, too, but damn.
And who is such a nostalgia-ridden movie supposed to be for? Mid-30s me is happy to see Rebecca Romijn return as Mystique after watching the light leave Jennifer Lawrence’s eyes with each subsequent X-Men movie she made, and finally watch James Marsden’s Cyclops *wreck* shit, but does anyone under the age of 30 care about this iteration of X-Men? Does anyone under the age of 20 care about the original members of the Avengers? Marvel *really* dropped the ball on establishing new characters.
Anyway, I’ll be part of the problem in December when I buy my movie ticket. My expectations are exceedingly low, so I’m more likely to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. I don’t care enough to get angry about it if I end up disliking it.
I’ll see this first and then see Dune 3, which is guaranteed to be a banger.
Edit: typos

It’s honestly not the big of deal, LOL. I just casually watch these movies and they are a good time, especially because I have general pre-existing knowledges of the worlds… that’s all I’ve ever expected out of them. I mean, I guess RDJ is talking to another type of fan.

The charm of original MCU run was we didn’t know which characters were gonna pop up next and the story line was linear and clearly building towards a big event.
Now we know they are just gonna go full in on old characters and tired storylines. And there are multiple loose ends with every project since Endgame which will now definitely take a backseat to the Pre Endgame characters.
It’s a mess and I’m not gonna keep my hopes up.

Then why don’t you pick a new genre? What are you working on, part 25?

Oh no. The money printing machine that was a juggernaut, and made billions for all involved, but dropped the quality, is now going to be saved because RDJ is back. Yay?!?
Kinda i’m on the train of eff celebs.

RDJ is a fine actor.
Which is a nice way of saying that he gets paid to lie and play pretend for a living.
And he gets paid very, VERY, well.

Marvels cash cow wants you to trust that they have your best interests at heart when it comes to their paycheck regardless of if they decide to go anywhere after this.

The issue with the MCU is that the have consistently raised the stakes so high with the ultimate stakes happening with the snap. It’s exhausting to watch the world almost end every time a new marvel film drops, but they cant lower the stakes because then the movie wont thrill the audience

Aside from daredevil and Spider-Man there’s just nothing in the mcu that can make me care atm tbh.
