    1. I thought Dua Lipa was a cool girl who likes to travel but thanks to the wedding, the whole image of Dua Lipa shattered for me

(Allegedly) making residents sign an NDA for your wedding is wild. I’ll never be on the side of the rich in cases like this.

I think whoever said this was promo for the man to be James Bond and her to do the soundtrack was on to something…

I don’t know. Still think she’s better than Jeff Bezos. Not gonna throw Dua, a feminist- book reader-Palestinian supporter, out with the bath water. At least she’s having conversations with locals. Not telling Vogue that she doesn’t want to feel bad about being rich anymore.

There was someone in the other sub that said they are in Palermo now and they had the streets blocked off by police. I say keep it up.

Celebs are trash for shutting down a city or area. Having security I understand but you do not exclude locals and others from their own city.

I don’t understand this new craze for celebs and rich people to rent out cities or sections of cities for their wedding events. I feel like that just shouldn’t even be allowed, like it’s a city and belongs to the public, if you want to get a permit for your celebrations sure but don’t prohibit others from being in the city. That’s what actual venues are for.

They should get the same amount of shit the Ambanis got and if they don’t we should question why

    8. No person or people should be able to close down a fucking city of hapless locals for their luxury fantasy.

      So gross, Dua.

    9. So Hubby is bond and she is in the soundtrack, there is no way it will be so much PR for a wedding

    10. Hot take but the anger should diverted towards town officials and not the celebs. Also, if the celeb is using local vendors then I dont see what the harm in having a small part of the city go down for just one weekend for a nice cash injection/public PR.

No one should be allowed to shut locals out of their own area for a wedding. I get closing off a venue, I can even get buying out a whole hotel… but cities shouldn’t shut down because some rich famous people got married.

I like her but it’s gross behaviour to shut people out of their own city.

People need to LISTEN when locals say they don’t want this

Gross that the uber rich can shut down a CITY for a private event

Cities aren’t for rent people are trying to live Jfc

    13. I need to know how and why Nestlé Barbie’s wedding is getting this much coverage. It’s relentless.

The rich just paying their way out of it as usual. Just paying a fine to do whatever the hell they want. Despicable

Why do we always have to get back yo those attitudes???

Rich people moving like rich people. Not sure why everyone’s so surprised.

She’s also pro-Palestine while doing Nespresso commercials. Nestlé’s like one of the top brands on the BDS list.

she should have left it at her civil ceremony, which was charming and cool, and then just carried on with her life of vacations. lol.

this is so beyond not ok.

Celebrities stop treating actual living cities as your private wedding venues. I’m sure Sicily has an abundance of country villas etc they could have rented for a private event.

The real problem is that the city allows this to happen. The local government should be held accountable for prioritizing profit over the interests of their constituents.

A lot of false narratives and clickbait articles being spread right now but according to Palermitans on twitter/X-

      * Only 2 buildings and one public square named Piazza Sant’Anna was rented out for security reasons, these squares are commonly rented out by ordinary people for 18th birthdays, communions, weddings, business dinners and even baptisms as they lead to nowhere but some houses.

      * It’s a square with bars and pubs, the chaos is created by curious people who park there with their cars hoping to see something, so they create traffic.

      * No NDAs were signed.

      * NO SHE DID NOT RENT OUT THE WHOLE CITY LIKE JEFF BEZOS’

This isn’t out of character for the ultra-wealthy, but I’m skeptical of any reporting done by the Daily Mail.

This is the pop girlie equivalent of the Migos donating $1,000 to a school and showing up for a photo op with a massive novelty check

    23. Fraggle_ninja on

Couldn’t they have just rented a huge beautiful house somewhere in the country side? Hired local staff, not annoyed the locals.  £5k is insulting.

It’s almost like the upper-class doesn’t begin at $1 billion in net worth but much lower, too

    25. I was in Palermo last week and I’m sooooo glad I missed this. I’m not hating on them permanently but major side eye for rich folks thinking they own public spaces for their private use.

I’ve personally never understood the Dua Lipa love, either. What has she done for the betterment of society? She has a huge platform that she could be using but instead she’s constantly on vacation (even during Covid lockdowns) and now this. People really need to stop idealizing celebrities and the rich altogether. Even ones like Billy Eilish who seem cool for how outspoken they are. She’s still friends with people who aren’t and to me that speaks volumes about a person, celebrity or otherwise, when they’re cool being around people who’ve either done active harm or have no strong moral code of conduct. We don’t live in a time where passivity is an acceptable way of being. Fuck the rich- even Dua.

The Sun never has and never will be an accurate source, it is owned by Newscorp AKA the same conglomerate that owns Fox News. I would take this with a grain of salt lol
