My husband is a heavier man. On Halloween one year he dressed at Patrick Swayze from this skit. Everyone loved his ‘Chris Farley’ costume. He would rip open the shirt I made for him, dance and say I’m Patrick Swayze obviously. 😆

It’s hard to find this funny anymore knowing how deeply uncomfortable it made Chris.

The Chippendales Audition skit is known as the Chippendales Audition? The one where the audition to be part of The Chippendales? The audition for Chippendales comedy skit? That’s the iconic live comedy bit known as the Chippendales Audition?

      Legendary? Maybe. Memorable, definitely.

I’m not a fan of this skit, and [neither were a lot of people on the set at the time, including Chris Rock and Bob Odenkirk](https://www.slashfilm.com/1152288/not-everyone-at-saturday-night-live-looks-back-fondly-at-chris-farleys-famous-chippendales-sketch/). It reduced the talented physical comedian Farley to ‘that fat guy’ positioned against trained dancer and movie star Swayze. It was lame, mean-spirited and intentionally crafted as publicly punching down.

While Farley used his size and weight in much of his comedy, it wasn’t without a cost. He was insecure about his weight, and conflicted about playing to type. There were concerns that it negatively affected his mental health.

Patrick Swayze was such a hunk and a great actor, it’s a shame she suffered from Pancreatic cancer.

It was for comedy in this skit in a way that was hurtful to him, but he was so handsome

I wish we had gotten the time for him to play a romantic comedy lead

Farley should have won. If you keep the sketch the same but have the judges say “Swayze you look great, but look at the moves on Farley…” it’s just better.

    8. there’s a line in “Hairspray” where Edna is scared for her daughter Tracy to go on live television, because “they only put us on TV to be laughed at.” the sketch is funny i’m sure but it also makes me a little sad.

It’s such an iconic sketch, but man it makes me so sad the Chris suffered from such low self esteem and never felt good enough in any capacity. I had no idea how bad things were for him, until I watched something a couple months ago. I hate seeing people not get the happy endings they deserve.
