Kevin Hart Responds to Roast Backlash as He Opens Up About Fatherhood and NOT Forgiving His Own Dad

Kevin Hart exclusively sits down with ET’s Kevin Frazier to talk about the launch of his new Audible Original parenting book, ‘Kids Make Me Angry,’ out now. Hart emotionally discusses his relationship with his own father, who struggled with addiction. When his father attempted to apologize later in life, Hart did not accept it. Plus, Hart reacts to his viral Netflix roast and the controversy that followed, telling those who were offended, they can stay offended — and any offense taken is the responsibility of the person who said it, not him.

    1. Kevin don’t give a crap about those insensitive jokes. All he cares about is not making others mad and making his money. I used to be a fan. Now, not so much…🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

    2. It's a roast. Anything goes, uncensored, unfiltered. Kevin Hart should not apologize for nothing and I am not a Tony Hinchclff fan either.

I've heard worst stuff on the old schools roasts from back in the day.

      People too woke and P.C.

    3. It was a comedy roast. Not a stand up special, folks. Try knowing the difference.

A roast has a pull no punches to how they conduct shows.

Now, if this was a stand up special, I could buy being offended but this was not a stand up special.

Common sense tells you that a roast is suppose to offend.

    4. People need to back the F up and if you don't like it then move on, the problem with People today all have a opinion but they also have ass holes, we all have one but seriously know one cares about it and neither does the post man, the butchers, the person walking down the street, People need to start respectively mind thier own God damn business.

    5. I get what Kevin’s saying but he’s missing the point. People were upset because the host and writers were mostly white and relied heavily on racial content.

    6. I don't think Kevin's mother or father was MURDERED and for him not caring about how George Floyd family felt is RUTHLESS. I bet if that happen to his oldest son he wouldn't want people telling jokes about it….WOW It just shows that some people will do anything for MONEY. I now I will NEVER support Kevin Hart or any company that he works with.

    7. Damn man these media outlets need to give it a rest, they always have something new to bitch about. You want PC roasts then go start your own show and see how much viewership it'll make compared to the original raw comedy Central roast…. you'll be surprised

    8. Geez still talking about the backlash exhausting if you don't like it don't watch it and don't talk about it. The roast did what a roast does. They all legends every single one of'em.Keep the talk going so they get started on
another one as we speak 💶

    9. If he saw the jokes before hand he should be ashamed. If he did not see the jokes prior he should apologize for laughing at them. He is going to Shuck and Jive his name away.

    10. I think we are a little bit sensitive – well done Kevin, I must be a very dark human being for not having found this offensive! If you there to play you there to play!

    11. Idc what the “definition of a roast” is.
      It’s demeaning
      Demoralizing
      Detrimental
To all those who has suffered a loss or traumatic experience.

It’s just a dressed up form of bullying. How is it funny to make fun of someone’s pain?

Bullshhhh at its finest and for Kevin to downplay or make light of this roast says a lot about his character.

Roast of Kevin Hart should be banned from any and all network platforms.

    12. I am tired of Kevin Hart going on these podcasts and gaslighting everybody like it’s the first time anybody has done a roast on national television. We have seen roasts before.

There is nothing funny about a brutal death. There is nothing funny about someone’s spouse committing suicide. There is nothing funny about mocking dark skinned women’s skin tones, especially when dark skinned women are constantly fed a barrage of information that we are less desirable than any other group of women on earth. It’s punching down, and it’s not funny. It has absolutely nothing to do with roasting.

You can’t be mean and then hide behind: “Oh it was a joke!” That’s stuff that bullies do in grade school.

Roasting is doing below the belt jokes about a person in good fun and watching them squirm with uncomfortableness while also laughing and taking the joke. There is always a line that should not be crossed. Always.

    13. Everyone needs to get a life and stop being so sensitive. You had a choice to watch it or not. I thought it was hilarious and yes there were harsh things said but thats a roast. Love kevin since the beginning and will always be a huge fan

    14. His attempt at deflection is so sad, talking about everything except how incredibly inappropriate and insensitive some of the “jokes “ on his roast were. Plus he’s clearly lying. The purpose of a roast is to go hard on the subject of the roast, NOT to attack others who have experienced a tragedy. That is NOT comedy. He’s trying to play us for fools; time for him to be cancelled. What a 🤡.
