I’ve loved the Horror genre my entire life and when the occasional person who isn’t a fan asks why I tell them it’s not always about the scares or mood but how they do it. Especially in practical VFX
Why am I scared and how did they do it? Looking at it on an analytical level makes it even more enjoyable.
I also happen to be a VFX fabricator so I’m very biased
It’s sad that real life scares them; on the other hand, it does explain a lot of the antisocial behaviour.
The millennials entered the job market right as the 2008 crisis happened. I’m not sure what Gen Z could possibly claim there.
Not to worry. Gen Z will tire of horror just like everyone else because theaters will be overrun with horror movies because that’s what is produced.
Next it may be something like buddy war movies, or superheroes (again), or space aliens, or another recycled mystery. Rinse and repeat.
