CBS is killing its most important program because they think a few years of Trump sycophancy will be good for the bottom line.
They’re going to be proven enormously wrong.
I agree with his point but why does this seem really theatrical?
They fired the pregnant journalist while he was still there.
He also defamed Alex Pretti and highlighted Pretti kicking a car’s tail light.

Absolutely heartbreaking to see and hear this. Watching our (USA) institutions crumble in every sector is one of the saddest things to see especially when I had so much hope in 2008. I still won’t give up on fighting for a better world but damn I’m sad ❤️🩹
I had empathy for him, until he said the newsroom is like the military, police, or firefighters. GTFOH.
“a tragedy I never expected to see” well if you’d done your job adequately enough, you probably wouldn’t have had to but you wanted to soften him up and “both sides” everything, so you get what you get

David Ellison & Bari Weiss are shitting on and destroying one of the greatest journalistic institutions in the US.
The sad truth is that Americans don’t support good journalism in big enough numbers anymore, and if they did it wouldn’t be dying. No one wants to pay for it, no one wants to watch ads, and straight news is too boring for them.
If we all consumed it and paid for it, if we all created a strong market for it, it would be profitable and it wouldn’t be dying like it is. Subscribe to a newspaper, watch a good news program and stop consuming all of the biased bullshit and influencers. Turn off your ad blockers when you read the AP and send them five dollars every month. Support it, or don’t complain when it’s gone.
For too long we relied on powerful people doing the right thing and a healthy fourth state just always being there, but now we have to step up and make sure it doesn’t die. Do what you can.
Bari Weiss destroying the last remaining prestigious TV news show… not really that surprising at the end of the day that she’d end up doing that. She is a completely intellectually bankrupt person.
I respect John Dickerson even more then I already did for immediately quitting CBS News when he saw what was gonna happen.
