This is despicable. We’ve lost all hope for humanity. I know people will say “but he was a thief!!!” But stealing water bottles should NEVER result in this kind of tragedy.
The child, Cyrus, didn’t even have any stolen water on him, they chased him hundreds of yards from the store, leaving it completely unattended, he lost his shoes and his phones and fell and they kept after him, finally shooting him in the back.
The judge pushed the jury to decided with the threat of keeping them overnight until they got a verdict.
This case was bullshit and the racist store owner, who’d shot at people in the past, should be in jail.
Absolutely disgusting.
And we thought Les Miserables was just a story almost two centuries ago?? We are supposed to be more modern and yet our justice system is pretty much medieval! Smh
Horrific beyond belief.
Even if he HAD stolen water bottles (he didn’t) this is insane fucking behavior, to chase down a literal **child,** as a grown-ass man with a deadly weapon. And to execute them in the street. Nightmarish.
A lot of the discussion ive seen online has revolved around stating the fact that he did not steal the water bottle, which i get, but can I say that even if he did, the price to pay for stealing a bottle of water should not be the death penalty
Running is now a capital offense, remember.
Until we all understand that human lives are more important than fucking water bottles we are beyond help
A plea for self defense goes out the window if you chase after someone and shoot them in the back. Or at least it should. 🙁
