Why are people like this? Just let us have our fun little low-stakes hockey romances in peace and without people getting weird about it

Its sick enough to go after celebs, but to go after their families too….come on guys.

The hate Belmont’s girlfriend gets is absolutely insane. And it’s even more deranged because she’s black.

She got dragged for posting a picture wearing a shirt with his face on it. 😭😭😭

    4. weirdos on the internet are so fucking terrible. it’s sad this even had to be said

The bar is on the floor but I’m impressed they released this. Netflix actors get insanely bad hate campaigns and they don’t give a shit.

    6. We need to outlaw fandom for a few years. Like what you like, but stop being weird about it.

What is happening that fandoms are just speedrunning their own destruction now? I was on Tumblr in its heyday so I know how toxic it can get, but attitudes that took months or years to develop are now coming out in weeks if not immediately after people get into a new piece of media. I almost want a full study on this.

    8. Fandom has gotten so toxic. Especially now that it’s being reported and used as content during interviews/press. Bad all around.

If only HR team can do the same.

What’s up with fans nowadays? Just focus on your favs and leave everyone else alone. Why make hate your personality? 🤦‍♀️

Idk if I enjoy or hate that I have literally no idea what any of this means

Not that it’s a new thing, but it seems to be getting worse, especially with them doing more book adaptations now. They’re just going to make celebs want to go back into hiding and not be online at all, which a lot of them have already been doing.

At least one production company made a clear statement about protecting their actors, good for them (even if it’s Amazon) 👏

It has been truly shocking and heartbreaking to see how openly and proudly multiple fandoms have been going after actors and their families and friends recently for often no reason whatsoever, and I say that as someone who grew up on One Direction, and that fandom was not always nice either. The undertones of misogyny and racism have also been impossible to overlook.

Be fans, but also be respectful. You do not have to pick apart someone’s complete life story, family and personal relationships to be a fan, or to use that type of information as weapons in stan wars or to hurt someone. Do better.

    15. no one can be normal about anything anymore. i feel like there’s something to be said about the blurring of the line between reality and fiction but im too burnt out to dig into that psychology rn.

Can people stop being fucking off the rails for 5 seconds

And like the worst thing is that most people are fine and don’t act like this but then groups form and people lose their goddamn minds and next thing you know someone is SWATTING someone’s house because they have a girlfriend

      ‘why are fandoms destructing!’

because we’ve lost the concept of shame. it’s an issue all over the world. now it’s always ‘agree to disagree’ or ‘be kind!’ but not actually be kind it’s just that people can say abhorrent things under the guise of fandom and bully under the guise of ‘my opinion!!’ and it goes unchecked. unironically bring back shame.
