In addition, series creator, executive producer and showrunner Katie Dippold has signed a multi-year overall deal with Apple TV. The news comes ahead of the Season 1 finale, which will bow on June 17. “Widow’s Bay” originally debuted on April 29.

“Season two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about,” said Dippold.

“Widow’s Bay” stars Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll Dale Dickey, K Callan and, Jeff Hiller. The logline for the show states:

“In ‘Widow’s Bay,’ something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no Wi-Fi, spotty cellular reception and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.”

I’ve heard nothing but good things about this show. I might have to get a subscription to Apple TV just to watch it. Can anyone recommend any other good shows on Apple TV to make it worth subscribing to?

The whole season has been great, wildly unexpected, but the whole episode of Beach Reads (E4) and then Rosemary’s genealogy lesson in E9 are jaw-droppingly peak.

This how has the best blend of horror and comedy I’ve experienced in a while. It’s amazing how skilled they are at maintaining a perfect equilibrium of funny moments without killing the horror tension.

      Also Patricia is the best

I spoke this into existence by thinking it had already happened. You’re welcome, everyone!

Other than the utter delight that his show has been, the fact that it turned so many people onto the americans bcs they enjoyed matthew rhys in this makes me so happy

It genuinely took that gif of him on the boat flopping out of the seat for my bff to finally give widows bay a shot, and now after almost 10 yrs of me begging he’s starting on the americans

    8. I’m *absolutely* adoring this show, but I don’t know how to feel about this, as it has big miniseries vibes. I thought if it was continued, it would go through the anthology route, perhaps going to a different time period as they genuinely built a setting bursting with interesting lore, but it seems they will continue with the phenomenal current cast.

Hopefully, Dippold already expected this and wrote this as a multi season show, with an idea to where to end it. Not saying it’s the case with Widow’s Bay, but I hate when shows meant to be limited production get extra seasons purely because of popularity and end just spinning their wheels because they already told the story they wanted to.

Does this mean they won’t resolve it this season?!! Oh come on, who is the descendant??

    10. What I love and makes it hard to watch is how realistically embarrassing some of these situations are.

What’s more scary, the supernatural or you acting cringe????

    11. Great! I binged all but the last episode in one Sunday and I LOVED it. I knew I’d like it after watching Tom go through the Wolf Calendar in episode 1…
