Marilyn Monroe in Noir
Before establishing herself as a blonde bombshell in musicals and comedies, Marilyn Monroe cut her teeth in film noir.
From supporting roles to her first leading role in DON’T BOTHER TO KNOCK, she held her own against some of the genre’s most seasoned performers.
Alicia Malone takes a closer look at Marilyn Monroe in noir. See the films THE ASPHALT JUNGLE, CLASH BY NIGHT, DON’T BOTHER TO KNOCK and NIAGARA on Watch TCM.

Yes, she had a few noirs in her career like Donβt Bother to Knock (1952), she is great in that film and still the beauty we all know!
Please bring back tcm underground, thank youuuu
Correction, Niagara was 1953. π
Great video!
That is the standard

When I was growing up in the 70's it was all about natural beauty and so Marilyn Monroe seemed strikingly out of date. It wasn't until I saw her more obscure movies on TCM that I truly gained an appreciation for her. Thank you, Ted Turner. (RIP)
She had the talent to go far but I donβt think no one would take that chance with her. Her creation of Marilyn Monroe ultimately was her prison

Slight correction, Alicia. Niagara was released in 1953. Not '52. Don't Bother to Knock preceded the aforementioned Niagara by a year (1952)
