True story: I randomly got the urge to google if she had fainting scenes only to find she had fainted the previous day!
It sounds like hitting her head on the boulder was a stroke of good luck, as if her fainting was just the latest symptom of whatever had been damaging her brain long before the fall.

Traumatic brain injuries are devastating to a person's life. My sister has one and she is confused all the time, she doesn't remember most things, she can't even navigate her little house. She can't take care of herself.

Ruined my body. Cant work and just hit 40.
Forced into retirement. The effect a TBI have on you also leave you an epileptic.
Its given me Grand Mal seizures.
Those hurt as bad as the accident and I was paralyzed on the left side of my body when I I 1st woke from my coma

The fainting is probably the greater issue that lead to the CTE and damage from it. Healthy people just don't faint as if it was farting!
