Controversy? For whom? For the Israelis maybe, but we don’t care about their opinion, he is the mayor of New York, an American city, not an Israeli one.

The western mainstream media still thinks that asking about the entity and why younger politicians don’t support it is some sort of gotcha type question. That rally literally had terrorists present there. It had an Israeli politician who had called for the nuking of Gaza, it had their finance minister who has openly called for the starvation and debt of the Palestinian people in both Gaza and the West Bank. They have never asked any other politician, whether it’d be the governor or even his police commissioner on why they chose to attend that rally when people like those Israeli’s were present.
The “you’re anti-Semitic because you don’t support genocide” argument is so disingenuous. Imagine how much ground we could cover if we weren’t constantly having to engage in bad faith arguments with bad actors. Political discourse has become so boring to me because rightwingers don’t even believe their own arguments, they are just saying whatever to reach a desired result for lobbyists. And the conservative voting base has 0 critical thinkers so their leaders don’t even have to try to formulate a worthy argument. United States of Brain Drain.
ETA: I also want to point out the irony in republicans closing ranks over Israel when they were cool with those tiki torch dudes shouting “Jews will not replace us.” Trump said “some very fine people on both sides” about Nazis. But now the left is anti-Semitic for not supporting genocide? Okay.
