I will get downvoted for this but I donāt care – ladies please do not pay for first dates!!! The wage gap still exists, the pink tax still exists. Women make less money than men for doing the same jobs, and have more expenses (period products, etc). Not to mention how we are treated socially and politically. Women are still not fully equal in our society, and until we are, the very LEAST men can do is pay for the first date!
Edit to add: Iām not saying men should be the āprovidersā or that they should pay for every date indefinitely. But women are still at a disadvantage in every way compared to men in our current society, including financially (Iām specifically taking about the US, where I live), and paying for the first date is part of men acknowledging that.

As a person who has known a very very hot illegal graffiti artist who would climb onto bridges hanging on by the edges of his fingertips 40ft in the air in a way that is the wet dream of every ninja warrior just to tag a freshly painted bridge….no…absolutely not. He made a pass at me one night while walking with me to the subway (we would walk in the same direction and he was pretty chivalrous in a way) and aside from the fact that he was way too young for me and smoked an abnormally egregious amount for someone his age so he was kinda…smelly, that boy was crazy pants. Nice, but an anarchist in the way actual real anarchists are, not just someone who puts a patch on their flack jacket and blogs too much. He did take some pretty awesome photos of the graffiti and poems in the NYC subway and gifted me some cleaned up railroad spikes though. He also somehow found an abandoned fire hydrant down there and almost broke his own damn back trying to get it out.
All these kids want to date in the 1990s (and earlier). Which is understandable.
