Dr. Emily Zarka is the host of Monstrum, a PBS show. She is the world's foremost expert on cryptids. I write horror and fantasy and whenever I need a beasty this is who I turn to. Aside from Ryan George she's my most watched internet personality.

Paul Westerberg is (was?) the lead singer of, and driving creative force behind, The Replacements. Like a lot of weirdo creative kids I was miserable in high school. How do you tell someone your music saved my life?

Felicia Day yall probably already know. The Guild, MST3K reboot. I've actually "spoken" to her online, where I'm sure she couldn't tell how totally geeked I was. My generation's Queen of the Nerds.

Seanan McGuire (aka Mira Grant) writes, I'm pretty sure, constantly. Novels, comics, throwaway off bits, Small Gods. This woman is a genius. I could meet Stephen King and keep my cool, if only barely. I would make an idiot of myself if I met Seanan McGuire.

So anyway, there are any number of mega stars I could meet, respectfully tell them how much I enjoy their work, then keep going. But an obscure PBS internet personality would have me full on Troy Barnes meets LeVar Burton.

Honestly anyone from the Burbank Cinematic Universe – Mythical, Smosh, Dropout, etc.

I wouldn’t be *hysterical*, but I absolutely would not know what to do with myself.

Anyone who’s ever done anything on Degrassi regardless of how major their character is. (Stacey Farber would end my life upon sight)

One time I met this random Youtuber who I had been watching for years. He didn’t even have like a crazy amount of followers or anything. He ended up going to the same college as me, and I saw him standing in line for the bar. I called him by his nickname on Youtube and he lost his mind, and said no one had ever recognized him in public before. He immediately texted the other guys from the channel about it. I was freaking the fuck out. We became friends. That encounter was way better than meeting a legit celeb

Already happened. I met Peter Sagal from Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me and I was an awkward/anxious mess.

I was like Troy in Community meeting LeVar Burton; but worse because Peter isn’t even my hero.

    6. A year ago, Vic Michaelis would have been pretty obscure. But I think they’ve blown up, thanks to VIP and their role in Ponies.

Does author and vlogbrother John Green count? If not, then probably one of several voice actors like Billy West, Grey DeLisle/Griffin, Steve Blum, or Ashley Johnson.

Miranda Hart isn’t a major celeb in the US but I would love to tell her that her sitcom got me through some really rough times when my husband had cancer/after he passed. She’s a gem and so hilarious!

The most star struck I ever felt was meeting Greg Proops and giving him an embroidery I made. Then he posted the embroidery on his Instagram and I was beside myself 😆

      Levar Burton 📕 🌈

You could argue he’s certainly not an unknown by any means; he’s had a successful and steady career. But I meet enough people who’s memories of who he is have to be jogged when his name comes up, that I think he qualifies as not being super mainstream. I’d cry if I met him❤️‍🩹
