while he’s not been the worst prime minister in recent years, his failures will be incredibly interesting to study
under him, there have been some small positives introduced, but I’ll never forgive him for being the worst human rights lawyer I’ve ever seen

This guy had almost zero charisma. None of his speeches were inspiring in the slightest.

Well, he purged the meaningfully leftist elements from the party, the people he did this to impress still hated him, and now he’s leaving. An inspiring story of British Excellence.

you know, sometimes I look at my southern european goverment, and want to scream at people with the way they’re voting etc, but by god keir starmer is somehow worse than 90% of them
the only possible nice thing I could say is at least he waited until there was a reasonably good frontrunner for the spot, if he’d someone challeneged him or he quit before I do think the challengers would’ve been a bit murky. I’ve not followed the uk policies as closely since leaving, but burnham seems at least a bit less commited to pushing the party to the right

At this point I have to wonder whether David Cameron cursed the position on his way out after the Brexit vote.
Then again, it’s not like the UK has had a stellar crop of candidates for it either….

People saying he wasnt the worst PM in recent years, but the Tories didn’t go after trans folk and implement digital ID laws.
Edit: talk to any trans person in the UK and they’ll tell you how disappointed they are in Labour, how scared they are of the future in the UK, and all of this is happening under a Labour government.

I am so happy. Look I am sure that Burham who replace him will be the same (Burnham is more right wing on Gaza, but Starmer has done so much damage already)
But this guy is so bad that he managed to revive the Green Party, he managed to throw the people who vote Labour under the bus. Under him we managed to get a new Green MP, in seat that labour should have won.
Look the UK is a mess at the moment, but the fact Starmer is leaving and anti Reform vote in crucial by elections have kept them out, the next election is not a done deal who will be in power.
Don’t give Labour an inch and vote Green next election.

And the UK’s descent into the far-right goes on. Centrists ruling with unpopular policies that further allow fascism to take over, tale as old as time.
To the Labour Party, was it worth it to push Starmer instead of Corbyn? They could have pushed back to the rise of the far-right across Europe and instead they capitulated to it.

It’s wild that some people are calling him the worst PM in British history when Liz Truss was a few years ago. He had some merits and had some flaws, I am certainly not a fan of him. His handling of Gaza/Israel, indulging the right and purging the left of the Labour was disastrous.
Aside from this, the Brexit vote was 10 years ago tomorrow, we are about to be heading for our 7th Prime Minister since that vote. The super rich destroyed this country with that vote and we’re still experiencing the damage from it. It caused instability that they wanted and we’re still facing.

After however many years of conservative governments, labour finally gets into power only for Starmer takes this crucial opportunity to turn the party’s back on marginalized groups, going all in on funding genocide to the point of openly policing dissenting speech, and ban gooning. What a meek and bafflingly dull man.
